Clear coated the underside to keep the paint from staining or wearing so fast.
Then placed little strips of gorilla tape at the side contacts and a square at each body mount hole. It runs very quiet like that.
    Thanks,

That looks pretty cool. Guess you need to go the extra mile to keep things controlable with a high speed vehicle. You see the new bands that are out to keep the insert attached to the rims? Might be worth looking into for an application like this. They're said to keep the tires balanced better and help prevent the tire from balloning.

I am using them on a bandit as well. Love them Would be nice if the caps and reservoir was aluminum. But for the most part they are very nice shocks that are very easy to adjust. And IMO they just look so darn cool.
Additional photos of the rear motor/tranny protector.

    Sorry bout the pic quality.

Broke it!!! Had a hard hit today and broke the front caster on the left and the steering block on the right, also bent a steering screw and broke one of the servo parts. New parts ordered, waiting impatiently[IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

On another note, before the damage was done, visited the local RC track and made a few laps around the course. Raced one heat, tied for last place. Was fun, going to go again after the repairs are made.

Just before the damage posted, I attached my iphone (in Lifeproof case) to the front of my Slash VXL and did a few passes to see how it looked. I'll try to get it uploaded but the video is rather large, 258mb. It was cool to see from truck's perspective.

A few weeks back I was launching my slash at the park and after around 20 hard landings it suddenly hit three wheel motion. Quick inspection revealed the rear shock cap popped off the shock, interesting, messy but easy fix.

Got a set of aluminum shock caps in the mail today along with a full set of green Losi springs and blue Losi springs. I threw the springs on wanting a test run before I rebuild the shocks and I think I want the longer 3" springs for the rear. The 2.5" springs need the giant spring spacer which I didn't want, at $3 no biggie. I'll wait until I get new tires and order the springs at the same time.

The bad news (maybe) is during my 5 minute test run the truck lost power. The speed control was flashing red as if it drained, odd since I had just charged the battery. I unplugged, plugged, started again and it seemed fine for another 5 minutes but the same loss happened. Does it sound like I have a dead cell maybe? I always charge using the unfavorable Traxxas charger on balance mode, it's a Traxxas lipo 2 cell battery that came with the truck. Going to try my other battery as soon as it's charged.

15 hrs in the last 2 days of wrench time.
HR sealed diff, changed out gearbox, changed shocks back to big bores, painted a platinum body, installed mmp/4600, rpm rear bumper and mount, new body mounts, and 7 hrs of that pulling my hair out only to find out that proline changed the length of their pro track arms...
...Then broke the 4x4 plastic steering crank hitting a wall sideways at about 8 mph... the 6500 spc's cells were both at exactly 3.85v lololol...

Took the teknos off and put them on the platinum then installed traxxas cvds on the scalpel since is just for speed runs.
Now I'm waiting for the red front and rear aluminum bearing carriers to get here.

I tested out all the new gear. Traxxas CVD's, Gmade Shocks, RPM Slash Rear A arms. It handled pretty good but needs the front shocks tuned a little.

Pics of today's adventure, the handling is much easier to predict now.
Robby finds himself in Baja California.... Okay it's Malibu but Robby didn't know that.

Disappointing for Robby, he got stuck in the sand

But he got out... and got stuck again.

I am digging the Gmades so far. I have the rears set perfect. Just need to play with the front a little. When tuning little adjustments provide big results. 1/8 turn increments when setting the pressure on the reservoir. The 1 turn at a time on the preload. It takes a while but when scooting across the back ysrd it looks pretty cool with all 4 remaining planted rather than bouncing around wildly.

Installed my LCG chassis to get the old slash off the shelf.

I won't use those tires, the inside fronts don't clear the caster blocks.

Now to find some electronics so I can drive it . . .

Today I rewired all the connectors on a mmp I got in a trade. What a mess it was. The person I got it from crimped 4mm castle connectors to the 3.5mm traxxas bullets and there wasn't a plug for the battery. After gettin everything soldered up I put some 17mm hexes on the rear with some big fat tires.

Next mods will be a jato front end with front wheels and tires from a kyosho xxl buggy. Eventully I want to put these parts on a slice da chassis but for now I'm just happy to be back up and running.

Only had my Slash VXL for 6 days. Went down to the local BMX park, launched it off some of the jumps and bombed around the track. I can't believe how much abuse this truck can take. Dropped it on it's roof from over 5' multiple times and no damage.
Also ordered Proline beadlocks, Gladiators and Badlands.
