    LaTrax TX 2.4GHz - 2 to 3 Channel Mod

    Hey Guys,

Well, I'm almost sure you read my previous threads about modding the two TXs:

    TQ 2.4Ghz: http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-4-Channel-Mod

    TQ Link: http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...-4-Channel-Mod

Well, I did it again... The LaTrax 2 channel TX can be modded to a 3 channel TX...

I'll post pics tonight, but I'm sure you know how simple it is... Yes, that easy!!!

    Daniel.

Well, first, I really like this new LaTrax TX (and the RX with 1 inch antenna too!), it's a two piece design (front and back), feels much stronger than the TQi (I hate how it's built in 4/5 pieces, it feels weak), the foam has a nice touch to it, but the wheel is just ugly...

The inside is very simple as you can see:

On the right, the steering trim, set button and status LED (when are they going to switch to blue/red? I can't see green in sun light!)...

And, on the left is the brains and transmitter...

As you can see at the top, there are 3 empty pads, that's for the channel 3 switch...

The pad on the right is ground, should go to the middle leg on a 3 position switch...

The pad on the middle and on the left, should go to the left and right legs on a 3 position switch...

I labeled them on the picture, that's how the servo moves if you touch the right pad with any of the other two... Default position is centered...

If you have any questions, let me know... Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes! I guess from now on, Traxxas will block this feature by software, so, if you like this TX, go ahead an get one from eBay!

On the inside of the battery tray it says: "Caution: do no install batteries backwards"...

So, I went ahead and checked out the circuit, they did not install a diode to avoid reverse polarity...

That got me thinking, what costs more, the label they put inside the battery tray or a $0.017 smd diode (1N4007)???

If they install it they won't have people buying replacements. lol

Maybe it wasn't thought of until too late in the process?

The current traxxas TQ is the same, so this works there.

I kind of liked the wheel, black is better than black chrome in my opinion. The foam anti-slip ring was nice too and that's not on the traxxas TQ. But the wheel is still too small for my liking.

So this works with the TQi 2ch transmitters to make them 3ch?

Nevermind I peeked inside mines different. I wanted to make my TQi 2ch to a 3 or 4.

Not possible with the TQi... it has been attempted many times with no success.
