Best direct replacement parts.
I recently picked up a nitro sport and I've put about 8 tanks through it including break in and I love it. This is my first nitro ride and I was wondering if you guys could help me out.
1: I really want to change the body to something more like a truck and I was wondering if there was anything out there that was a direct fit. I looked at some of the rustler stuff and didn't really see anything I liked, but some of the slash bodies fit my style. Would they work?
2: in the near future I would like a power upgrade. I did some searching and it seems as if os engines make good power and are easy to tune, but are there any that would drop right in and retain the ez start? If there aren't any direct fit upgrades besides traxxas stuff I'll probably end up going with the 2.5r.
I appreciate any help you can give me. I did some searching and most of the info I found was at least 3 years old, there has to be some new stuff out there.
I don't think there are a lot of aftermarket bodies for the Sport. When I'm looking for a new body, I take the car I'm wanting it for to the hobby shop and see what I can make work.
With a 2.5/3.3 motor mount the OS 21tm will drop right in and use the Easy start system, but it's way overpowered for a little Sport. I think a 3.3 would be the best bang for the buck in a sport and you can buy two and have change left for the price of a 21tm. The Sport with a 3.3 would be a hard to control wheelie machine.
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of getting a 3.3, changing the gearing, adding some heavier duty parts, and moving the battery pack to the front. Hopefully some of that will counteract the wheelies. I think I'm going with the rpm mods and pro line masher tires. The stock tires are lacking when it comes to grass.
If you were planning to use a higher gear ratio to help tame the power, I would wait until after you get the bigger tires. The tires being an inch taller than the stock ones will raise the gear ratio quite a bit and the added weight will add drag to the engine.
I run 2.8 trenchers and 72t spur 19t pinion with a trx3.3, losi 3.4 carb and ported sleeve and crank work. 2.25oz of lead wheel weights on the front, 150cc fuel tank. I still had to put a home grown wheely bar on just to finish break in of my engine.
