    De-Chrome rims

    Hey guys
I know jimmy did a thread on this using oven cleaner and that seemed to work great but my dad is not letting me us it because it is a hazardous chemical. Is there any other way to get rid of the chrome? I don't want to paint don't think that would look the best.
    Thank you,

Oven cleaner has been used safely for decades. lol

Everything in solution form will be a "chemical." If all else fails, sand it off.

But this is a nice, effective method using Super Clean. Its probably less hazardous than oven cleaner:

Yes they are they look really good blacked out ad I want to do my set up like that. Are there any other ways I can remove the chrome? I don't think sanding would make them look that good. How bad is oven cleaner? What is the process for the oven cleaner?

I'm in Europe so I don't think I can get that purple stuff. What can I use?

Used the yellow cap oven cleaner on mine as well, but didn't get that great of results. After letting them sit for hours and multiple reapplications the plastic was whitish on most of the wheel after water and scrubbing. Taped the wheels and painted them for what I wanted.

    Here's them all dirty.
