HPI Sprint 2 Flux suspensions on a rally

    Hi,

I'm about to convert my MERV to a rally and I need the shorter suspension...
I found the HPI Sprint 2 Flux suspension (full set) for not too much and was wondering - will they fit? Are they any good? Better then the rally stock?

    Picture of them:

    Thanks,

    Barak.

Can you find some measurements on the shocks?

If they are similar to these they will probably work with some modifications.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Their site is so unorganized it's amazing... I'lm still trying to find the specs on the net somewhere.
Btw - how did you cut pillow towers?

LOL! Nails are ok, just glad you didn't say teeth..
I don't have those type of tools yet... Any way to avoid that?
And the recommended length is 70mm?

It could probably be done with a hack saw and a file... but that kit has been discontinued.

Did you know there is no difference in the actual shock in all the 16ths? To reduce droop Traxxas has installed a spacer within the shock of the Rally, Mustang, and possibly the Slash.

Length of the stock shock from eyelet to eyelet in a Revo is 47.75mm
Length of the stock shock from eyelet to eyelet in a Mustang is 43.75mm
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Yep, i've read that while searching google for the difference, but I couldn't find that spacer...
I was looking at these :

they have 60 / 55 / 50mm. but again, that **** with shortening the pillow towers is annoying... why can't I screw them like the traxxas suspension?! argh...

The Traxxas top cap eyelet is smaller than most others... meaning that others will not fit in the stock shock mount. It may be possible to put something like a hollow ball in the aftermarket top cap and then set it on a stack of properly sized washers to get the shock spring to chassis clearance.

Any chance you can upload a closer picture (side and above) of the way the shocks are installed?

I no longer have the RC's those were installed on... but you can probably get some close up pictures from the current owner: http://traxxas.com/forums/member.php?70842-graham_h
