traxxas 36t mod 1 spur gear

I want to run the traxxas 36t gear for the extra durability and so that i ill have the option of gearing higher. I just have one problem, Where do i begin to gear it? I would like to have it geared a little higher than what the stock gearing is. What pinion should i use. Oh, and my motor is a Castle 1406 5700kv and i run on 2S. Thanks.

I have a 18t and 24t pinions and a 36t spur coming in the next few days and will let you know what I think.

18T and 24T are very large for use with a 5700Kv motor. With a 14T you would be geared for a theoretical top speed just over 70mph.

Dude 24T would be overkill on your 5700kv motor. I ran Mod 1 gearing, 42/14 on a 3s lipo, 4600kv, 50 mph bashing, backflips and caftwheels.Tore that thing up, but had fun doing it. Also, very little cogging whatsoever. I personally wouldn't go over 18T, maybe on a 2S it might be doable. Good luck though. You just have to experiment. Plus the 1406 motors are 4 pole, so much more torque than the older Castle CM36's.
