    Transmission Problem?

I started driving my slash today when I heard a grinding noise coming from the truck. So i doubled checked the gear mesh and it looked fine. So then i pulled the motor out and spun the wheels by hand and there was a little noise and resistance but nothing terrible. While i was spinning one of the wheels i looked at the spur gear and it was slightly wobbling while it was spinning. I messed with the spur gear a little and there was more play in it then i remembered. I havent taken the transmission apart yet but im confused as to what the noise is.

One other thing, when i pulled the axles out of the rear bearing carriers the blue rings in the wheels bearings that keep dirt out came off on both the inside bearings and there is quite a bit of dirt in them. Should i try and clean them or replace them?

Replace them and check the rest of the bearings on the truck, more may be bad too. I'm sure the noise is related to bad bearings.

So i guess ill start by replacing all the bearings in the transmission and the two wheel bearings that got dirt in them.

Anyone ever used fast eddy bearings?? looks like a decent price

i took the transmission apart and cleaned it, didnt replace anything, and put white lithium grease in it. Its not as loud but id like some other opinions. It sounds like the gear mesh is wrong but i checked it and reset it multiple times.

Is there a reason you didn't replace the bearings I replace mine every couple weeks and never worry about a failure.
Your transmission is the last place you want a bearing issue, I realize I'm a bit obsessive with mine however I dont just toss the bearings, their more often then not not used for the wheels.
You cant get a decent idea of a bearings internal condition by looking at it, I use a q tip to spin them to get an idea of how restricted they are and if to bad for normal use I'll but them in my emergency bearing container, a worn bearing is better then no bearing in a pinch.
Imo your trans sounds ok, perhaps a slightly worn spur and pinion but I would wait for more opinions as I'm not an rc trans specialist, lol.
    Best of luck to you.

The reason I didn't replace the bearings is because the new set hasnt come in yet. I just wanted to see if going through it would fix the problem.

I have a lhs about 30 minutes from my house, I would use it more often but everything is ridiculously priced.

I got lucky on this front, even before they knew me my lhs wasn't extremely high priced, this isn't to say with a little shopping you couldn't find a better deal but lately they've been giving me prices I can't beat on the net, they even give me gifts now and again, lol.
I have been a very good costumer tho.
I bought a rx-8 Gen2 for $188 out the door, I haven't seen them under $200 + tax any where else but haven't really looked that hard either.
Imo their nice to have around in a pinch as well, it is a bummer however when they charge through the nose for things.
