It should work pretty well, but I don't know if it would be completely locked... not like the Traxxas locker would anyway.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

thanks i have to put another shim in my diff and have been wanting to lock it for awhile but i didn't want to take it apparat for just that. i do a lot of trailing and a little bit of crawling so a locked rear diff would be a big help.

I used silly putty in an old build of mine, works pretty well. Great traction especially when low speed crawling. Heats up well under speed to allow for diff action. Just be careful, I left my truck locked inside of a hot car ( windows up) and the silly putty kinda-sorta melted and released an oily thin liquid which leaked out of the diff. - But that was under extreme external heat.

Would a traxxas diff lock raise my chances of striping my diffs if i were to put part #7381 in it?

It would be about the same... but you would risk breaking axles more easily.

I put play-doh in mine. I'd say they are about 90% locked.
