    Traxxas summit 1/16 axle carrier

Hi everybody this is my first post so if I did anything wrong or post it it the wrong place please forgive me now on to my problem I doing a conversion on my traxxas slash 1/16 and I'm converting it to a summit I bought all the parts and everything went fine until I tried getting the axle carrier straight so that means I can't get the wheel to be straight at the same time I did replace the servo arm and axle barrier because I'm pretty sure they Are the same as the slash

Please try some punctuation... it makes what you type easier to read and therefore makes people more willing to help.

The carriers are all the same across the 16ths... from your pictures (thanks for those, btw) your pillow balls are threaded out too far. Start with them almost all the way in, so that they just barely miss the arms while turning. Then, if you need more camber adjust by threading the appropriate pillow out. Then, if you need less toe in, thread both the top and bottom pillows out the same amount... be sure to repeat the same turns on the opposite side too.

Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

I have another question, but it's not about the axle carriers, so I'm going to post it here anyways. When I plug the battery in my 'summit' 1/16, the vehicle starts to go full speed. I read a page traxxas had in that problem, but nothing worked, the only thing I could think of is replacing the esc

If it is the stock servo, unplug it. If everything goes back to normal, it was the culprit.

Be sure to check your transmitter batteries too.

Have you unplugged your new servo to test yet? I've seen new servos "work" and cause issues too.

What happened to the old servo?

Yes the new servo works fine, I've tested it. As for my old servo, I was changing the gears because they were stripped and I kept messing up the gears, causing me to open and close the servo multiple times and that lead to the wire that comes out of the servo to tear.

It might sound silly, but I had a similar issue with my sons, and spent 10 minutes going through all the quick fixes I knew, only to find he had cranked the throttle trim on his transmitter (to make it faster).

I have a another question, whats the best gearing for the highest torque for the 1/16 brushed summit. Also is there any other motor to replace the stock motor (not the velineon). My stock ones keep burning out. I don't want to do any modifications so please keep the motor options that way. I just want to plug the motor in the xl2.5 and go, thanks

One more thing I forgot to add, please keep the price affordable.

Is there anyway to achieve this look, for the 1/16 summit

The smallest pinion and the largest spur... plus flipping the transmission. That will give you the lowest gearing possible.

As far as motors... I don't know of any other than stock. You may want to look through a site dedicated to crawlers as they may have some leads on brushed motors that the 2.5 can handle. I wouldn't be surprised if stock power is all it can handle.

You may get that look with some SCT tires/rims.

So would a 55 t spur gear and 11t pinion be the best

Is that the lowest pinion and highest spur you could find?

Can you also tell me how to install the traxxas diff lockers. What would be the best to lock the front, back or both

One thing I forgot to add is I'm going to be trailing and crawling.

Yes on the chart, but the problem is that's for the velineon. I can't find a chart for the 1/16 brushed 540 that will work for the summit

Locking both will kill the turn radius but provide the most traction.

Locking just the front will give you pseudo dig and effect the turning radius more than just the rear.

Locking just the rear may cause the rear to actually stuff itself under the center line of the RC during a steep incline causing it to flip over backwards.

Which to do is up to you.

    How?
Remove differential, open it up, replace the 3 little gears in the cup with the Traxxas locker.

Looking at charts is not finding pinons and spurs... you will have to dig through your favorite hobby retailer to find what is available.

So I should probably lock both

Would this work in the summit? http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...od_id=DTXC8376

Do the gears have to be from traxxas ?

No they don't need to be from Traxxas, but they need to be the right pitch and bore. Those two specifications are not in the description of the linked pinon.

Try Tower Hobbies and then type in pinion gear in the search and there will be a bunch of gears to choose from, and they all will say what pitch and bore they are.
With great brushless comes great responsibility.

Ok so I just got in diff locks yesterday, and I'm really confused on how to install them. How do I install them on the front and back.

HR shock bodies and use the rest of the parts off of your stock shocks.
I use 42.5w oil in mine.
