    Project Tellusumm

I wanted to call this Telluride X because it resembles a jeep, but with the parts that will find their way on, Tellusumm is a likely name.
First off, get rid of the stock bumper for something more scale ish, Summit bumpers look perfect.

Second was to try and cool the Titan 12T down.

I'm gonna run it stock for now until the motor calls it quits

Mounting is easy, when you have the parts.

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:151604

    Seen in blue

Working on editing down my trail session from today. 40 min on the stock battery.

Unfortunately the Go-pro died when I swapped to lipo and went down the other trail. Took some pics though.

I also swapped on a set of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrains from my old slash platinum.(painted the rings blue with a sharpie paint pen) They are better than stock, but you'd be far better off with something larger.
I almost wish traxxas had bothered to design Canyons to fit the sc wheels.

Also did some GPSing, getting 19mph with stock pinion and 31mph with a 26t

Looks like they are made of plastic on a 3D printer, I'm jelous... Like when bradbrad made the first wheelie bar for the 1/16 e-revo and some Chinese company stole his idea... I guess making that in aluminum is not that cheap...

The vid's not great, but doing three things at once has a learning curve. Also my first time with the truck out in the wild

Trying to learn editing, but my computer is a bit slow.
Not much in the way of sound other than the transmitter clicking, add your own music. The trail had a few downed trees so a few hand of god moments, I did give it a good try though.

    Here's the rig:

Turns out the new TQ is mod friendly(for now) and the third channel is as simple as installing a switch.

    Which is good

Deviate: There not horrible on the Summit but I think they'll look huge on the Telli. I'll have to borrow my friend's for pics. I'll probably just design my own though.
rag6: I'm just south of Pittsburgh, can I borrow a few G's for the patent. Please

    sean1214: Something like that.

patmanz28: Trying to get a baseline on the stock motor to really judge it's effectiveness, haven't used it yet. I'm rather amazed at how well it's working so far. Although I did do the first run break in and I know I'm not the hardest on things.

DiggerPede/danielhr77: I print in PLA right now. I hope to eventually get an ABS machine because you can work in a lot better stuff like derlin. The Revo bumpers are so flexible that the plastic holds up great.
I'd think the block of aluminum needed to machine these out of would be pretty pricy .

Those bumpers look GREAT! Nice to see people making good use of 3D printers too

With those beautiful scle looking bumper all the Telluride needs now is a scale looking shell ... I kinda think it should have had one from the start :-/

I know how the Traxxas radios are. I modified an old link radio to 4 channel and one day it just decided to work.

I know that Traxxas is probably modifying the program(hence the ), but it does work just installing the switch.
Can't guarantee it working in the future on other radios

I'm kind of surprised no one's really hacked the Traxxas radios, they use the same chip as the GT radios.
I've tried but haven't got it to talk yet

rag6: South hills/ Washington area, we'll have to get together sometime. I hope the sarcasm came across, patents are so dang expensive and they don't always cover everything.
I'm sure if rpm or pro-line thought there was a big enough market they'd come up with a nice solid mount that tied into other parts of the truck.

I know the vids broke, working on it

    Major scale update

The telluride definitely looks better with a spare on the back so I made a bracket.

It bolts through the body and has held up pretty well so far. The weight is good too, the back end doesn't just hop all over now.

The roof also needs some attention.

That's a cut up summit light bar and some 5/16 K&S tube with printed brackets.
I may plastidip it, but I kind of like the look of the aluminum.

Stickers are boring so I made a fuel door and some handles.

The screw to mount the door handles makes a good lock cylinder looking detail.

And the summit lights are not as big as I thought

not sure I really like them though.

I also made some mechanical changes:
500k diff fluid; It really should have been this way from the factory. On the trail it required a lot less wheel speed to get the diffs to transfer power which made it easier to control over obstacles. I don't feel that turning was affected, the truck is so short and narrow as it is. It actually felt easier to drive on pavement because it rotated slower and didn't just snap into a roll over.

Lower the rear hubs; The rear hubs have two mounting holes for the hinge pins. The truck comes with them in the lower and if you move them up you get a little extra ground clearance. This keeps the rear skid from hitting everything you go over.

I know in the 2wd pede's, using that upper hole can make the drive shafts bind against the arms at full extension. Good to know that the shortie arms have more room.

Yea the drive-shaft is close, but I didn't change any other part of the suspension setup and at ride height it clears well.

The old link radio and the old 2.4ghz radio were not locked by software, actually I was the first one who hacked both for the first time, but the new TQ link design hasn't been hacked yet and I'm afraid it won't be possible. But, if you make it work, just let us know, I really don't have much time to experiment these days.

The scale details are amazing. One of my fellow cab drivers has a printer. He made a 3d 1.5 oz shot glass that was amazing. I just dropped a 2wd ft bulkhead off to him to copy. We are gonna see how good that material holds up 8)

Yea I was busy uploading last night and didn't have time to post.

So here it is with pro-line badlands, my favorite looking tire, on the standard offset RPM #82222

I also came up with an led "array" and some other parts for the summit bumper

    And Mirrors:

    That shouldn't break off

danielhr77: I remember reading through that awesome thread. I understand the skepticism and I'll work on solid evidence. These TQ radios don't seem to be "link" anymore, but I'm guessing they'll lock them at some point. Maybe they'll go back to yellow buttons, my vote is for blue though, it would look awesome on the LaTrax radio.

rag6: That's a lot of material to print solid, and a lot to ask out of the material. I'd also be curious to know how it turns out, holds up, what it's printed in/on.

I no nothing of the biz with the printers or material. The item(3d shot glass with the outside dimensions of an 8 oz drinking glass, and a 1.5 oz shot glass inside with webbing to support the outside) he showed me was a milky colored plastic. It was stiff, and he stood on it (about 175lbs the guy looks to be). I see him about 2x a week at the airport, but have not ran into him yet to see if he tried to print it. I will try to get the specs on what he is working with.

reod12x2: No worries, it was gonna get here sooner or later.

Yes those are Pro-Line Moabs, long discontinued and really hard to find. I really love the look of them.

rag6: That narrows it down to just about anything. You can get any type of plastic in any color, may have been nylon given he stood on it. Though you can print anything solid and it will be fairly strong.

I haven't hit the trail with it yet, but I took it on a test spin and everything worked fine. 2.2" are an amazing improvement in clearance and grip.

Blue button is awesome, and I'm not a fan of the small TQ wheels

Got the lights all wired up

Not a huge amount of light, but I'm happy

I kept the tail lights dim, have to fix the roof lights so they don't bleed so much

Finally got the chance to run it.
The Titan 12T really wasn't happy. The xl5 also wasn't thrilled, but that's a lot to run off the bec. I think it thermaled at one point, or hit lvc early. It never browned out though.

The 2056 didn't have much issue, not sure if the lack of caster helped or not. I picked up a 2075 so that's going in next.

The hubs held up well. I held no punches and they're still in one piece.

The 2.2s kind of felt bulky, but I was on the harder trail. Not sure if I could get 1.9s to fit.

I had the go-pro with me, working on posting a working vid.

2.2" don't make it any easier either. 12T may be on it's last legs, though it's not nearly as bad as a few I've seen.

    I has a vid

Not great, but hey it works.

I cleaned/re-lubed the 12T and installed my spacer along with the 2075. I also noticed some wear on the steering rod-ends so I moved them to the inner hole on the knuckle.
