Talking Mini Digger 4x4.let the build begin

So this is the third 1/16 Traxxas in our collection.
Started life as a Boss Roller.
Dropped in a brushless motor, spare ESC and servo and added some parts.
As you can see it's half done, waiting on a knuckle and bearing to get it done, updates to follow.
It will be a beast, it's not intended to be babied.
It'll run 3s Lipo all the time (that's why we're running steels shafts all the way through.)

    Parts

Top view (yes I know the toe needs adjusting)

    Rear end

    Underneath bulkhead taped up

I love it!! I should have converted the MERV into a Digger instead of a Summit. Oh well, maybe next time around. LOL

jcmeyer5 looks like he's using Digger MJ tires (shown in the box).

Yes, the GD body will be used...

How does my glue job look, G?
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Glue job looks excellent Jimmie. We'll know for sure when it's wide open on 3s

Yup digger body and wheels and tires. Jimmie kindly taped and glued the tires so hopefully they won't fly off.

We'll "convert" the mustang body too if possible to have a spare "monster 'stang" shell

This is perfect timing for me, wanting to build one similar to this for my grandson. Also likely to get an E-revo for me to have as a project vehicle too.
So with an E-revo VXL unit do you just need the Grave Digger body and the taller mounts to put it on?

I will have to pick up some GD tires, does anything in the line of suspension need to be lengthened?

Looking forward to seeing your progress too

Basically yes, Obviously going "green" where ever possible helps the overall look.

Should we be taping up the bulkhead like that? Is that to keep dirt out?

I think it's a good idea. We're right near the beach so fine sand is always an issue. I rebuild our bulkheads every 10 runs or so and dry lube them with graphite powder

I'm eager to know how it turns the tires. I've been thinking of finding a near 4" tire to run sometimes and make it a little more offroad capable.

Oh it'll go like stink. 3s lipo only. That's why I went for all steel driveline straight up. It's driving me nuts waiting on small parts. I'll have to pillage one of our MERV's to get it running

At last...sheesh.... seem to take for ever

Front end: One thing's for sure HR knuckles are much better quality than the soft GPM ones (won't be buying anymore once they're gone)

Rear with GPM knuckle, alloy is very soft and tolerances are all over the place

Steel centre shaft is strong, although we've lost the pin on Red MERV

    Body Off

    Front end (body on)

    Rear

    3/4

    With Bigga Digga

New ESC is in...... works great.
Broke a HR Axle shaft......not impressed. However I suspect the landing from 15ft didn't help

Couple of small backflips before the Big one........
