    Motor cleaning

    What is the best way to clean you'r Dewalt, or any brushed motor?

    The dewalt makes it easier.
    Pop the brushes out and use motor cleaner or electrical contact cleaner.i use non chlorinated brake cleaner,I'm cheap..lol same for other brushed motors.not being able to remove the brushes makes it a bit more work but same procedure I do it over a white styro cup to see how much gunk comes out.spray it until it comes out clear.relube the front and rear bushing and your done.

    ^ +1, just use brake (or carb?) cleaner to spray out the motor until it runs clean, then just lube the bushings. Also, what he said. V

    Avoid chlorinated products it doesn't get along with plastic very well,It makes it brittle.the internal motor fan is plastic.

    thanx guy's. Thats pretty much what I've been doing, but last time I was out it run a bit funny, little smoke. Still works though. Maybe got some lube over spray or somthing on it.

    i do basically the same but before i use the cleaning spray i blow it out with air first.
