External lvd is it safe to turn of stock lvd

I hate the stock one it cuts into lvd at 7.89 volts all the time
So can I turn it back to nihmh and just run a external lvd on the bec side ? Or does the summit do this because it is actually dropping voltage when u flog it so its reading a lower than true reading is this correct?

That's what happens about 90% of the time. And yes, you can run it in nimh mode and use LVA's. Also, read the last couple of posts in this thread.
