As for 18/62 being too high gearing, I've run 21/62 in my ERBE (2200kv) for a long, long time with HPI Terrapins as my tire of choice. This is actually a pretty mild setup so far as E-Revos go. The tires are 6.69" in diameter, which is just about exactly in the middle of Trencher and Trencher X tires. On 4S heat is not an issue. Why then would 18/62 with a 1700kv motor be too high?
How? I calculated again, and I got the same result.

All my buddies have tekin in everything the sensored motor is sooo smooth and powerful. Its fast aswell easily keep up with a mamba and pass it, I would keep the summit geared low, to much speed will just wreck the truck, we had to turn back my cousins truck becuase he would twist everything off, its geared to go like 40mph in in 2nd and in low it has enough torque to pull me in a Wagon

I ment high as in the gear ratio 18/62 is a higher gear ratio then what I run 18/54
And have no heat issues here in Texas running 4/5/6s.

18/62 is a LOWER gear ratio than 18/54.

I'm going to have to put this debate to bed. Not sure the Tekin is passing the MMM easily, if at all. Wonder if my buddy has the same bullets I do to do a motor swap and find out????

It's nice havin a buddy with a Summit and compatible power system. If you are havin a problem, to find the culprit you can swap parts till it works.

Youtube is a great resource to learn to solder. Or go to LHS and pay them to do it.

Do you have a Local Hobby Shop than will do it? Or a local fellow enthusiast who can?

Make sure you have a good soldering iron, not the cheapies that come in tool kits.

I tried 3 cheapies before shelling out the money for a good one, then soldering became easy.

Be very careful in the rain as it would be very disappointing to ruin that new Tekin system.

Believe me, that thing won't see any water until it is completelly waterproofed! I only need to find the best proven way!

Good to hear. Just would hate to see a water issue with that system after all you went through trying to decide which system was best for your use.

Plasti-dip might be ready by this evening. It can take a while to dry each coat. Or you can soak it in Corrosion X. There is a lot of information on those products on this forum.

I just finished soldering/waterproofing mine, I had both plastidip and liquid electrical tape. Decided last min to use the LET. Only need to finish sealing the sensor and fan port on the exterior.

Man, I tell you It was a huge relief when I turned it on for the first time and it powered on successfully. As this was my first time waterproofing, I was a little worried.

But it all went back together great and Im super stoaked.

Cant wait for my Aluminum LEM axles and hardened diff gears to show up next week to put my Summit back together!

Did you have any problems with air bubbles around the heatsink, because mine had some tiny holes made by air bubbles. Also, mine looks exactly as yours, so i guess we are on the right track!

no, didnt really have a prob with air bubbles. I did have one I noticed, but on my second coat I made sure I took care of it.

I used a small paint brush, maybe brushing strokes helps push out the bubbles instead of just dipping it or pouring it on.

Awesome, I wont be putting it in water on purpose. I always think less is better. I didn't waterproof mine to submerge it, just to help when it accidentally gets wet. But I am quite confident it is 99% waterproof now

glad all is working fine. Ive only tested my system on a blank chassis for now until I rebuild my summit to make sure it works, so I'm not sure how bad to expect the temps to get with the waterproofing.

    How were your temps?

I was running 4s, throttle time is about 45sec full, turn around and45sec. back to me, for about 3/4 battery pack(2x2s in serie)! I can't run 6s, my 2 3s 5000mah didn't came in yet. But i think i'm gonna like 6s power!
