A Different Kind of Gearing Question

Does it matter how you reach a gear ratio? I just converted my son's Merv to a Rally - he is currently running a 28/50 combo - a 25/45 would give him a like gear ratio 9.0 vs 9.07 -

Is one better than another or is the final ratio all that matters?

I realize with the Rally set up I could go a bit more aggressive in my gearing but for now this is a good one for a 9 year old with his On - Off throttle control

    thanks in advance

Final ratio is what matters... no matter how you reach it; that is what determines the load on the motor.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

How Do you Calculate gearing for a 1/16 Rally if that makes a difference?
