I'm guessing you haven't ran a Wraith on 3S with a sensored Tekin system. Its as fast as my Slash and will still crawl (after you dump $500 into a $300 truck.) That being said, I still want one of these! I have a VXL system waiting for it. I think this is going to be a fun truck. I hope the aftermarket crawler companies see its potential, and make some goodies for it.

I really love flame fails. Knowing at least a little something before making such a comment would be a good goal for you. I do have a dedicated crawler, but I also have a well known trail/scaler running a VXL combo, Summit 2 speed tranny, 2075 servo and Stampede drive shafts. Yes, it can go slow over the big stuff but it never does, wanna race?

I was merely expressing my wish to someone who works at the company of having a similar rtr built TRAXXAS tough and smart, with parts available everywhere. Doubt it will happen but never hurts to ask, and any great company welcomes feedback from loyal customers. Thanks for playing.

Spare tire is nice, you might want to add a roof rack with lights or not if you ever run out of ideas, but that'll take a while.
    Did you say Traxxas?

    Yes with or without lipos.

Suggestion, try the S1 compound BFG's and see how they crawl.

You'll need some very soft foams if you want the S1's, or any SC tire, to crawl. Maybe even no foams.

So the VXL-3s controller runs fine with the 2400KV motor?

I tought the ESC could not handle 4 Pole motors well and that it has this rev limiter at 25,000 RPM ????

i've only done a few full speed runs and it seems fine....but considering this is a trail rig i'm not concerned about all out speed.

The vxl-3s is programmed with only 2-pole motors in mind. If you hook a 4pole to it, it effectively will cut the speed in half. The ESC thinks a 4-pole motor is spinning at twice the speed that it actually is. In my experience it still works though, and may not be a bad idea for slower speeds on a sensorless motor.

I think it will work well as long as the 4 pole motor has low KV. I have seen a guy running the mamba monster (neu 1515) 2200kv motor with the VXL-3s esc with no issues

The VXL-3s will limit at 25,000 rpm and the 2200kv with 2s runs about 17,000.

Never heard that the vxl esc has a rev limiter. Where is THAT info coming from???? A 3s with the vxl motor spins well over 25000 rpm... 12.6v x 3500kv = 44000+...

I have read this a couple of times. Rev limiter at 50,000 for 2 pole motors and 25,000 for 4 poles

I know the VXL-3m from the 1/16th scale platform has a 50k rev limiter but I have never heard that the VXL-3s has a rev limiter

How does the esc measure revs without telemetry.
With great brushless comes great responsibility.

I guess its smart enough to count the phases as it is firing between the 2 or 4 poles...

I remember hearing it had a rev limiter somewhere, but nothing official. I believe they were talking about running a higher-kv 4-pole motor, like the castle 1406 4600kv. I imagine the ESC would have something in place to keep itself within design limitations, but I don't know.

The earlier post was right though, that if the kv is low enough, it should run the 4-pole motor fine on 2s or 3s. If the vxl-3s does see a 2400kv 4-pole as a 4800kv 2-pole, it'd still be able to run it on 3s without issue.
