Ripper IBL 40/20 2000 kV with stock ESC??

    Hi,

New here and new to the RC world. Thanks for all the great info here.

I am wondering if a Ripper IBL 40/20 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBZCC would work with the stock ESC and if so how it would work? My stock motor is not long for this world, I never took it apart until recently and it is FULL of rust. I have the ripper motor and it has only been used a couple of times so it would only cost me the price of a 40mm water jacket to put it in.

If not, is it worth upgrading to something like the Leopard 4082 1600kv motor / Seaking 180amp ESC or just put another stock motor back in? (I am always game for an upgrade)

    Thanks for your help

A 4074 2000kv motor would put you at high risk of burning up the stock esc on 6s.

Even on 4s it would be risky, IMO

I burned up a Sea King 180 esc running a 4074 2000kv Leopard motor on 6s. (I was however, also running a larger than stock Prather S220)

The leopard 4082 1600kv has been a popular choice, most often with a SK180 esc upgrade as well. Not sure how many have run that motor with stock esc, but I would be more comfortable suggesting that motor over the 2000kv motor.
