Who's got the best painted XO-1 shell???

Just wanted to start a thread with members posting there bodies/shells for the XO-1's?

who think they have the best shell here on the forum? post it!

close to grabbing myself an XO-1 and I have a nice body scheme planned out for it.

Well, I just got opening and inspecting my new XO-1 that was waiting on me when I got home from work tonight.

It's kinda funny you posted this, because I will be getting a clear body to paint and was trying to think of color schemes.

I'm some what disappointed in the shade of red on the stock body. It's really dark and not as red as all the pix I've seen make it look. I guess it won't hurt so bad the first time it goes on it's top.

I would like to post my car's shell and take part in this friendly! But I can't do that yet as my car is still 'works in progress'. I'm gonna 'batmanize' it! Woohoo!!

quick question guys. one of the main points of me getting an xo-1 is the excitement for me to paint the body I have in mind. so would it be weird to buy a clear shell now and paint it up even tho I don't have an XO-1 yet?

Not weird at all. Even if something happened and you ended up not getting the XO, you should be able to sell it........ that is....if it turns out well.

I got some paint and clear shell on the way. It will be my first attempt at air brushing anything with the stuff I got almost 2 years ago

Looking for some clear plasic sheets to practice on.

Let's see what I can come up with. No doubt that it won't look anything like Modsquad68's.

Thanks to the OP for inspiring me with this thread

I'd suggest you keep it relatively simple Fly since it is your first. Focus on clean lines which will give a good result, see some of the above examples. FYI clear 2 liter bottles are great for practice.

Yes, it's my intention to keep it very simple to start. Then work my way up little by little. Thanks for reminding me about the plastic bottles, I had forgotten about using those to practice.

I'm pretty sure I can/will do a better job than the one on my stock shell. It looks like they rushed the coats and got a reaction causing discoloration. Not too bad, but it should have been better.

    Thanks!

I want a clear body to get my painter to do this paint scheme on it... love how this turned out. One of my new favorite paint jobs he has done for me.

This body and the paint colors explode out in the sun.

Well, thanks to some defective masking sheets, I wasted a lot of time, expensive paint, and a shell. It's going to be awhile longer
