I checked all the gears, even in tranny, they are fine. And when i lift the car of the ground and hit the gas itll go fast but still makes the noise.

Try taking the motor out and holding it while giving it throttle and see if it still makes the noise.

Sounds like a severe case of cogging. Check all your connections to start with.

What kind of battery are you usuing?

Check the roll pin on the slipper shaft. It could have broken. Other than that, double check all the gears, including the ones inside the diff. One of them has to be stripped or not meshing properly.

I narrowed it down! I tried to turn the big gear that has gears in it (i think it is called the differential) and it made the gear grinding sound! I took it apart and no gears were stripped or missing teeth. So then when i put them all back in they werent grinding until i put the top back on? Anyone got a idea?

I think it is happening because there isnt alot of grease in the tranny.

Lack of grease definitely is not causing this. Move the motor away from the spur gear so that the spur and pinion are not touching at all, and see if it makes noise when you roll the truck. If it does, it's something inside the gearbox. It will probably be the large plastic gear in there.

A bearing could have also fallen apart, if this happened one of the shafts the gears are on will be loose and causing some gears not to mesh properly.

I agree the last post, this would usualls not be caused by lack of grease, I am gonna guess that something was not put together correctly and thru everything that was done it happned to vet reassembled correctly.

Whatever the case is, glad to hear you got it working.

You need to go through a step by step analysis of what is and isn't working. Like I said before, move the motor away from the spur gear first. Check that every single tooth on both the spur and pinion gear are in good condition. If they are, then next step. Remove the spur gear and clutch assembly and check to make sure every piece of the clutch is in tip top shape. Consult the Traxxas exploded views if necessary. If all is well, crack open the gearbox. You'll need to carefully inspect EVERYTHING. Every bearing, shaft, and gear.

There is also the possibility that one of your driveshafts has broken.

Also check that your motor shaft has no play. I've seen the bearings on the vxl fail before.

Follow my steps exactly, because one of those things I just mentioned will be the cause of your problem.

Its a brand new 2400kv motor, so i know its not the motor. Not even 1 run on it, it did this with the vxl to. I had just taken it out of retirment and forgot it had this problem and just installed the 2400kv. Im almost 100% its the differential

Another big culprit for this is the pin on the back of the output shaft that locks the gear on it in place.
It is easy to overlook and if it is broken the gear attatched to it will n o t spin.
As suggested by AK SNO RIDER, I would tear down the entire transmission and carefully look ar EVERY part, replace what is needed then carefully reassemble everything.

My guess is it's in the internal part of the transmission case. Answer a few questions for me:

    1) With the power OFF, lift the truck off the ground. Turn the rear right wheel forward, what does the Left wheel do? It should move opposite if your transmission case if operating properly.
    2) When is the last time you changed the bearings in your transmission case?
    3) Did you inspect the Teflon bearings when you had the transmission apart?
    4) Take the slipper apart and shine up or replace the pads and slipper disc. I'll bet they are glazed. You can use a bit of fine sandpaper to buff it up, or replace them.

I think you have one or more of these problems.

    1. Yes it moves properly.
    2. Never and the truck is 14 months old but was in retirement for 7-8 months.
    3. Nope but i remember them not looking bad.
    4. The slipper clutch disk is pretty black.

Not sure but i think the slipper clutch disk is supposed to be metal colored not black

You are correct, sounds like his is pretty used. They do start to turn black over time. He should replace it or at least scuff it up a little bit

In that case I would guess the pads have been overheated and may have had small pieces break off and that could cause the noise, and if the slipper that far gone it would explain why it will not move.

Go ahead and replace the pads, they come in a set, then scuff the metal disc with sandpaper. And you should be back in bidness. Tighten down all the way and back off 1/4 from full tight.
