Hey Wake, I haven't ran them yet, but the reviews I have read say they are a solid tire for on road use. In fact they are considered one of the tops if not the top, serious on road racing tire. They do say they are better suited for pure on road racing rather than ultimate speed runs.. What ever that ceiling or threshold of that may be....

Thanks Clint! We need to get out bashing soon! Maybe we should pack some RC cars into the trunk of our cars when we head down to Defrost 2014....

I was hoping to get a Quad Copter to mount my HD ghost cam for aerials of the car meet, but the Bind & Fly is currently out of stock The RC cars may have to do.

    Thanks Hooty!

I didn't have time to head out bashing today, its a bit cold and slushy out, but I did have some time to play around in the shop. Seeing as I have a good inventory of clear truck bodies to be painted yet, I got inspired to maybe paint one up for Rally-2, as a run around. Not quite a Scalpel, but not a highboy 4x4. I will finish the Ford Focus, but this maybe a nice change.

I like the shape of the Illusion Raptor, and I may have something like it, or close. Put a big GT wing on the back and let it roll!

Yes, they are similar to the Knuckles, just a bit more open pattern.

Truthfully, I forgot I had a fresh set of Knuckles in the bags when I bough the Derringers... and the red lettering woo'ed me

You bought a set since...? Great to hear!

I'll post up some pictures with mine on..

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered another VG chassis brace for the Ultimate. It was feeling like a lonely soldier at the officers club without one

Here are some shots with the Duratrax Derringers. I have not glued them as I have a few sets of other wheels coming, I want to try them on first to see how they look.

No I haven't purchased or had any time with trucks at the moment due to the new bambino who is ten days old....but I have a list of consumables and spares I need to get as the good weather seems to be coming....your new treads look sweet....I may get a set of lock up tires due to the blue lettering...
Can't wait to see what new wheels you have coming

Ahh, sorry, I re-read it.. I thought you couldn't resist either, as such popped for a set too. The Lockups are Sweet as well! I may have to get a set of those and a set of the Banditos in the 1/8 buggy size.

Awesome on your new baby! I was wondering about that the other day... Boy or girl? Congrats Simon!!

So in anticipation for the VG chassis brace coming for the Ultimate, I moved my Rx box after supper. She is already to accept the brace.

Aluminum Standoff from my spare parts bin. It's from the HPI Sprint 2 Flux battery hold down posts. I trimmed it a bit to length with a tubing cutter.

Drilled and counter sunk the hole for the mounting screw

Standoff in place. This time I'm just going to use servo tape on the front section by the servo. On Rally-1 I actually drilled 2 holes and used 2 screws to hold it down as well. I thought the tape will work just as well.

Standoff mounted to the Rx box

    Rx box in place

    Rx in place

Ready to roll, just a bit of wire cleanup and it should be good.

Wait, how did this get here?

You still have the beadlock rings adding pressure to the tire so a tiny amount of glue helps them not to fly off. It is also a lot easier to peel the tires off the rings than remove the tire off stock style rims. So you still ger the benefit of having quickly changing tires. I even glue my Proline tires on. With the MMP 2400 motor combination it will still throw the tires off the beadlocks.
Basher here and I use a small amount of silicone on the inner bead and the outer ring. Works great and easier clean up than glue. castle 2400 on 3S and not a problem.

Well, in case you don't make it over there, here is a sneak peak...

Rally-1 in background, Rally-2 under construction in foreground

I was planning to go out bashing today, but I started working on the full size cars, and burnt the afternoon doing that... Maybe sometime soon

Ha, Thanks Simon! I hope to have it ready for the Defrost full size car meet. I'll want to pack Rally-2, the XO-1 and the Ultimate in the trunk of my car for entertainment while at the meet.

They should be a crowd pleaser for a bunch of car nuts

Do you have the extended battery tray? My friend let me borrow his 2s battery and could barely get the hold down in place.

Thanks Jezza! As a fellow Canuck, you know its coming around!

Sean, yes I do have the extended battery hold down, but a 2s should fit fine with a regular hold down. Unless it was maybe a 8000mah, even then.....

Hey Simon, Defrost is an annual car meet in our sister city of Regina where car enthusiast all celebrate the spring thaw by getting their cars out for this show and shine event. It hosted by the Dodologic car blog group, this year on Saturday, April 26. On Sunday is a Matsuri Drift racing event.

We have a group of cars that gather at the outskirts of the city. We all drive down to Regina, 260km or 2.5 hours drive together. Last year we had +130 cars for the drive down. It's a good time for the drive and for the show and shine in Regina.

This year I plan to pack few RC cars along just for the show. You never know what a person may find to run them in, or generate more interest in the hobbies itself. Lots of gear heads to convert

Here are some shots from last year

It was a bit wet from the defrost last year, but if I can't run the road cars, I should be able to run the Ultimate for fun! Clintcart is going with his WRX and also planning on bringing his RC cars... It should be good!

Small upgrade to the Ultimate today. The VG chassis brace came in for it! Just need a few more parts and she should be done for a bit.

    Ordered this one in Blue

It fit as well as can be expected

    Another angle

    My typical chassis shot
