I vote mini revo. My buddy has a 1/16 slash, i'll admit it does looks fun.

Where do you see yourself driving it? Dirt, sand, asphalt, grass... that may make a difference.

Revo. 1/16 is to small for a SCT in my eyes. ;-)
    I like my revo

Revo. But you can always change your mind and convert it to a slash later.

    I love my 1/16 slash.

It really needs to be run in smooth dirt or light sand though for optimal enjoyment.

MERV is more of a go anywhere RC, not really go anywhere it is a mini after all, but definitely opens up more environs to play in due to the larger wheels.

As for the you can convert it to slash later, well you can convert your slash to a REVO later too

But it is probably cheaper to buy a MERV and convert to slash after

+1 on the surface. I've got both (but the MERV is in pieces atm) & the Slash is very finicky on surfaces. Light gravel is good, any dirt/sand surface is great, but if if there's too much undulation or too many weeds then the MERV outplays it.

I'd recommend going the MERV, but getting a Slash shell if you like the look better. Cut the wheel arches higher & have yourself a nice old time on all surfaces.

I just ordered a Mini revo VXL, and I own two 1/16 slashes one VXL other is Brushed and They're no good on anything but gravel and powdery dirt, it doesn't even move in grass, and I checked it's cheaper to Buy a E-Revo and covert to a slash then slash to revo.

    Thanks, Tyler!

Merv all the way! If for no other reason than the cleaning! When bashing in dirt, the fact that the Slash body covers the wheels means the dirt gets kicked up inside the body and it gets everywhere! With the open-wheel concept of the MERV cleaning is way easier

MERV is more of a go anywhere (well, not really many more places than the slash). MERV gets stuck in grass too, just has to be tougher grass. If you have a fescue lawn, your fine if it is cut real short. If you have zoysia, lol watch that motor burn up as you sit with your wheels spinning.

No mini works well in grass. Heck most 1/10 scales have trouble in grass.
