If you have a glitch buster, use it if it fixes the dancing. Savox are awesome but very power hungry. With the XO you don't really need anything better than the Traxxas 2075. They actually work well for the task.

Is the 2075 sufficient for racing? Im not building a straight liner.
I want to be able to drive this one.

Easy enough for me to drop a 2075 back in i have like 4 of them kicking around here.

    Man dude it just bites.

One thing I hate about running an external BEC is once you put power to it, it's on until you unplug the pack.

You've seen my Dessert Rat Slash 4x4 build?? I have the BEC hooked up in there my Savox.

Chunk it in there and see if it works for ya. It works good for me. I don't think many have used anything else. It's pretty worthy IMO. Worst you install it and have to yank it. LOL

That's good man. i don't thing you'll be disappointed, you don't need anything to lightning fast unless you are running an obstacle course or really slow driving. My XO is the only one I've kept bone stock. If you've followed any of my other builds this is truly rare, not that I won't down the road, haha

Is the Savox you had in there new or what you had as a spare?

Some nice ideas in the FOD thread. Maybe its lazy me talking but im surprised nobody has started making any mods to fix these issues yet.

Or are they? Haven't seen anything with any of the usual suspects.

Just keep in mind that parts are mass produced and they have to make sure they fit. Tight tolerances would be tough and expensive to manage. Just try to eliminate as much slop as possible with washers and what not. I haven't done anything to eliminate the slop in either of my xo's.

I've done a few mods so far mainly the slop at the wheels and in the steering. FOD has some awesome stuff in his thread.

Oh yeah that fact isn't lost on me, but it blew my mind to find out the hinge pins aren't the right size.
    Made me go..

Have to agree on the FOD tips.

How are the XO-1 hexes for inherent slop? Coming from the ERBE im all to familiar with excessive slop in the hexes.

Maiden voyage earlier this afternoon. Just on the street outside my house. Nothing fancy.
Running on 20/46 right now on 4s. Same gear point as my GTP2e and i dont have heat issues in there unless its a really warm day.

    What a blast.

So I've been eyeballing the XO-1 to add to my collection. I have been reading about building one from a roller. I found a few on ebay for about $200. Since I don't have electronics laying around to put in it, it almost seems (at least in my case) I would be better off buying a RTR.

If I don't have parts like a motor, esc, etc. laying around, would I be able to put a roller together for less than $600 complete with lipos and ready to go?

I don't need a charger, tools, or TX.

    Thanks ahead, Bill

I would have to say no if you do not already have the electronics.
the guy selling the rollers on eBay (where i got mine from anyways) is $176.
Need a body ($40-50 on eBay)
Need Tires (XO-1 wheel combos usually end up around $80-90 on eBay)
MMM Combo at minimum $350 ish retail new (possibly cheaper if buying used but usually around $200)
Opt for MME XO-1 stock setup you are looking at around $300-350 on eBay anyways. Closer to $400 retail.
    2075 servo ($30-35)
    Lipos 2 x $45 and up.
Now add shipping etc depending on where you live.

Certainly better off buying the RTR now that they are so much cheaper than before. Factor in a Tower discount and you can get one for probably close to $600

Im regretting not going this route in the first place. Even though i had the MMM here and all that. I have still spent over $400 on top of the roller initially. So much for a budget build. And now i have another rig with no motor/esc. So im really no further ahead on this build haha

That's kinda what I thought. I have my finger poised over the buy button as we speak. I can get one for $569 shipped from Tower. I told myself that I don't need another car/truck and I'm not even sure where I can run it yet, but that price is very hard to pass up. Geez! I mean I used to spend more than that just on the motor and esc for some of my planes.....actually, almost that much just in servos for my last one.....cheap by comparison. Besides, I could probably recoup a few more $$ by selling the TX that comes with it.

Should I go ahead and get a sway bar kit with it?

I have to wonder what's fueling the price drop. HPI had huge price drops on the E Baja 1/5 scale buggy just before they discontinued it.

Curious as well. The electrical components did not come down at all if you were to buy separately.

Not that it's a fair comparison, but It's way, way harder to flip my ERBE over in a turn with real sticky tires. It still has plenty of suspension too. It's my hope that it will help keep the XO right side up and handle in turns better. I guess we'll see.

Traxxas is great at marketing. My guess is that they just want to get some of these cars out there where they are more visible to more people. Seeing them in action will most likely sell more cars. Specially when people find out they don't have to fork out $700 or $800 to get one. Then there's replacement parts sales. The guys at Traxxas are no dummies for sure.

    So true.
Setup question. Getting lots of chassis rub while cornering and braking. Has anyone found a shock/spring setup that helps eliminate this? Can only stop so much via preload before it works against itself.
