    Which Battery....

I have 2 trucks and 2-2s lipos and wanted to know which would best for either truck

    The Trucks are...

Stampede VXL 4x4....Stock electronics Stock Gearing

Slash 2wd Raptor CC Sidewinder SCT Combo 3800kv...all stock otherwise

    The Batteries are

    SPC 2s 6500 MAH 50c
    SPC 2s 5000 MAH 30c

Will the 50c Battery compliment the CC system more than the VXL??

Yes that 3800 is a known amp hog and the 6500 mah 50c can supply more amps than the
    5000 mah.

Does that translate into more heat? Can the castle handle it? I got the new one with the fan built on the esc but the slash trans won't allow the fan that comes with it to fit

The 3800 is a pretty cool running motor, in a 2wd on 2s you wont have heat issues unless you gear it way too high.

If it were me the Castle /3800 would be int he 4wd Pede and the VXL/3500 would be in the 2wd Slash.

Hmmm Interesting idea....How would the CC fit on the pede? Direct without chassis mods? I thought the CC system would be underpowered in the 4x4...

The sidewinder esc would be taxed way more than the 3800kv motor, but with proper gearing the esc will stay cool enough. The best thing to do is pick up an IR temp device. Duratrax sells them for around 20-25$, but keep an eye on Harbor Freight. Sometimes they send flyers out with coupons to get an equivalent for 10$. They also sell a laser guided temp gun for 25$ or less. Keeping the motor and esc under 150 is safe. I personally would not run the sidewinder in a 4x4. The motor will handle the 4x4 driveline much better than the sidewinder. I would run an mmp, or traxxas et3s.

+1 on that ^^^^. The 3800 in a 4x4 will try to eat more amps than the Sidewinder can manage while staying happy.

When you guys mention the MMP you mean the Mamba Max Pro ESC or combo?

I am not sure but from what I read the motor on the combo requires dremel work on the pede 4x4...

The 2400kv motor requires modding the chassis because it is a very long motor. The 3800, and 4600 kv drop right in.

I will be putting the mmp/4600 in my pede 4x4 for its maiden runs. Just make sure to keep an eye on temps.

No 3s with that motor. I have my castle 1512 1800kv for 3, and 4s use.

I think it can be done your gearing will have to be right and you will be pushing it's limits but I think if done properly it can work.

The 1406 series are great motors. As conservative Castle often is in the gearing charts, they still put "100,000 rpm" on the rear cover and "3S" on the 5700 can. I ran the 4600Kv on 4S in my Merv every once in a while, but that was only for speed runs or to tease my buddy when he was bragging about his car being fast.

It's all about knowing where the limits are (your temp gun is your best friend to help you with that) and know when you pushing those.

For the record: don't use the 4600Kv on 4S in the 4x4 Pede and when you want to use 3S, do it with care, like Dad says.

Another question....will running a lower C rated lipo battery or NIMH battery actually be possibly dangerous due to increased amp draw on the CC system?

If there is danger, it will be the battery first. NiMHs are not capable of feeding such high power combos enough and will get hot very fast. Worst case they will cause ripple currents which are not too healthy for your ESC.
Same story for too weak Lipos, except you don't want trouble with Lipo at all.

just run them and findout for yourself, people act like c-rating is a big deal. I honestly cannot really tell a difference between my 20c and 50c?

If you cant tell the difference odds are you are buying cheap packs with false or fabricated ratings. Buy a quality pack with accurate ratings and I promise you will be able to tell the difference between 20c and 50c

Yeah, what Dad said. Going from 30 to 40C on a Sky lipo added what felt like a 10-15% power boost. It was very easy to feel the difference. I was pretty surprised.

C rating is a very big deal, the accuracy of the c rating that is...

You need a battery that can provide more amps than your motor can pull. You need to be able to trust the c rating of the pack. SPC tests every single pack before it is sold. I like that. If I need the power, I can trust that my pack did not get missed because of "sampling".
