    NA`s Merv Build

I acquired a lot of 1/16 stuff last month: ------> LINK

I started with a brand new brushed Merv. Then swapped for the VXL system and TQi 2.4 system from the VXL Summit. I'm running 26/50. I ended up using a stock servo just to be operational until other options are looked at.

Then added the following upgrades that were included in the package I got:
    -Aluminum Hexs
    -Aluminum Pillow Ball Caps
    -Steel Hollow Balls
    -GTR Aluminum Shocks
    -Locking Green Wheel Nuts
    -Green Towlinks/Pushrods
    -Wheelie Bar

    I will be adding:
    - RPM A-arms
    -Aluminum shock supports
    -Steel CVD`s
    -Steel Axle`s

    Tires for it:
    -Canyons with optional chains
    -Trenchers
    -Road Rages
    -Dirt Hawgs
    -Talons

I did some series test runs today with Road Rage tires and got 73.9 KPH
I was sweating after a few runs, heart pounding fun. Glad I didn't roll or smash

Does the center diff help much? Any other must have upgrades?

Thanks, Its was a brand new build in these pics. But has a few scratches now accompanied with some dirt

I'm thinking about some Aluminum carriers once I wear out the stocks. Who makes good alum carriers?

Golden horizon and hot racing seem to get the most nods.

I decided for GPM - I have to say - they work good and I had no issues so far.

    BUT!!!
The square opening for the pivot balls is binding a little - not all the time and not much - just a little and only at some direction of movement. So in my opinion it shows more in front, then in the rear, where there is only suspension movement involved.

If I would make this upgrade again, I am not sure if I wouldn't go with HR ones ... with brake discs for looks

Don't get me wrong - they are good improvment and work great! I am not complaing, just reviewing decision from few months back

Neat looking, would be hard to keep clean and only get in the way of rocks and twiggs....

But I might still get them for the looks factor.

Id have to say this little beast is a blast, Loving the Merv. Put 4 packs into her today and was launching her into the air. Lots of control while flying through the air. But she got a little dusty from the dirty cartwheels

Gecko on here in the Merv section, he runs those disk brakes on his Merv. He'd be the one to ask about those...

Oh ya, dirty means fun, its my son new favorite toy.

Id pass on the disk breaks, I bash too hard. Just something else to break or get jammed up in it.

I got a TBR 3-pc chassis skid, changed the pinion to 19t and threw on the set of trenchers. Makes it much better for backyard grass action. I had to trim the front bumper a bit to accommodate the tires turning radius. The tires needed to be shimmed on the inside of the rim to prevent binding on the carriers because of the aluminum hexs. Loving it, but gets pretty hot with this gearing on series after some wet grass.

I also got an order from The Toys, everything`s great and went on no problem, Not bad for like $50. I really like the shock braces and bulkhead/chassis support they provide.

Thanks for the info Vaas, Hopefully I dont have that problem. Did you switch out the bushings for real bearings? I have cause luckily I had enough around, But I didnt have any the size for the rockers...

Anyone know the rocker bearing size off the top of their head?

    Hello NA,

I used some bearings from TheToyz for most of a year before I bought acer's full replacement set, that included all the bearings i needed. I keep my bearings in good shape by cleaning em out and putting in a drop of acer sin oil, keeps em spinning nicely

    Rocker arm:
    ID 4mm x OD 7mm x Width 2.5mm Dimensions

That is off boca's website, changing from bushings to bearings makes a substantial difference.

    Cheers
