    freeing a locked up motor.

i just got a an old .15 from a buddy for free. its been sitting for a long time so both the engine itself and the carb are stuck. i took the back plate off and it isnt rusty or anything. question is, what the best way to free it up? could i pull the head off and fill the clyinder up with ARO and let it sit to see if that would free it? or is that a waste of time and oil? also, whats the best way to unstick the carb? Thanks guys

Best to tear it apart and clean part-by-part. You may want to consider getting new bearings but if you just plan on beating the tar out of it and do not care if it blows after a tank then leave them.

what about the carb? i was think of setting it in a jar of marvels mystery oil for a day or two. maybe even doing that to the whole engine. thoughts?

easiest way i found to free them up. pull the top of the head off and spray with wd40 then use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up. usually they will pop free in a few min. I did this with a few nitro's and just put them back together as i was expecting them to be toast. they are still running strong several gallons later.

If the piston is locked up in top of engine spray some wd in the glow plug hole and use heat as above. It will come loose
