    Temp

Today I was running my slash 2wd vxl 3s lipo battery. 23/86 gearing. It was 80 out and a little damp and the motor only got 98 is that good I was bashing hard on the road?

Time to get a new temp gun or barrow a friends.
For an electric motor to only rise eighteen degrees above the ambient temp hard bashing is a near impossibility, even with a fan on it.
We run 2s geared 18-25/86 with ambient temps of 70*,and fight to keep them under one sixty with cc 3800 4 poles which tend to run cooler the the two poles.
See if your temp gun has a max setting, sometimes if you dont pay close attention you may not be getting your max temp read out.

My temp gun is a fluke and is almost new. It also cost 100 bucks.

Don't care if it cost a thousand bucks,if your running 3s bashing for a hole cell the motor is going to get more then eighteen degrees above ambient, its your rig,I'm just trying to point out facts.
    Electric motor x 3s = heat,plain and simple.
    Good luck,enjoy rc.

Just make sure that gun is calibrated right. Maybe try another temp gun or thermometer to make sure.

They're right. An 18 degree rise on 3S, unless you just pulled your motor out of the freezer, is pretty impossible unless you're just barely moving.

Maybe he has an aluminum transmission case and measured the temp near the output shaft. The butt end will be hotter.

Could you put your finger on the motor can without burning it, or having to remove your finger after about 3 or 4 seconds?

It just doesn't make sense that you'd run that hard and not have temps over 140, 98 on a warm day, not likely.

How long after the run did you take the temp, and where did you take it?

Running in 45 degree weather with my stock geared Slash and I still had temps in the 130's, on 2S.
