-The liquid dye is a bit easier, IMO, since you don't have to mix/stir it
    -One bottle should do it
    -Wear gloves
-It will look purple-ish partway through - no worries - just keep it in there
-Don't substitute with another brand of dye:
    http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=521491
    -Don't spill or splash it
-Someone suggested using their BBQ instead - not a bad idea

    My technique:
    a: Boil some water
b: Put pan on a cookie sheet, and place the sheet on your range/stove
c: Pour the boiling water into the pan, top up with hot water so you have just enough to cover the chassis
    d: Add the dye
e: Start the heat on the range/stove - just enough to keep it simmering.
f: Let it soak there - maybe even an hour - occasionally move the chassis around to ensure it isn't stuck in a single spot too long

    Good luck!

I used a large pan, boiled the water and mixed in half of the rit dye package, put the chassis and rockers in and let it boil for 20-30 minutes.

I did both of my erevos, one after the other since the pan was only big enough for one.

Depends on the size of the bucket and how much water you mix it with. With the size bucket i had i needed it to be full of water (which was 25 litres) so i used 2 packets of dye and that was probably not enough. I just mixed both packets of dye in hot tap water topped with boiling kettle water and a bit of vinegar and left the chassis and rockers in for about 3hrs.

See this thread for my process.

one tip; once you are done store your right dye in a closed bottle. I used an old OJ bottle. you can microwave the contents and/or reboil for later use. just like leftovers.

Does anyone know if you can buy RIT dye from a shop of some kind in Australia or will I have to post it from the US?

You can buy it anywhere in Aus. I buy it form Big W, but there are also sellers on eBay from Aus that sell it. Either way it'll only cost you around $5.

Well, after letting them sit over night (about 14 hours) sitting in the dye, the parts came out looking dark purple/blue. Guess I didn't use enough dye or something!

At least you can dip em again and go darker if you want.
I use the liquid dye and just dump the whole bottle in. Especially for black.
I wait till i have enough to make it worth while and then just do everything at once.

I will bring the water to a slow boil, add the dye and stir it up to activate it.
Drop all the parts in and leave them in on a slow boil for a couple minutes (makes it go much faster)
Then turn the heat off and let them sit for a couple hours. Works like a charm.

Sounds like you need to add more dye?!?! From my experience the more concentrate the dye the darker the color, especially since you’re dying from grey.

LOL!!!!! I don’t know how that happened. I'm heading to Utah in September if you can wait that long. LOL!

Don’t you hate when something like this happens? I don’t know what’s worse, realizing when you’re putting it back together that you are missing a part or have extra parts? I guess missing a part?!?

LOL, ya I hate that too. For me it's always an extra screw, or a part not fitting.

I got one better, when i was reassembling my Summit LT i installed the front P2 rockers in the rear, and didnt even notice it till i went to install the rears on the front and they were rubbing hard on everything. Only then did i notice i had the fronts out back.

Parts that go missing in a rit bath are a mystery. I use a peice of kite string and tie all my sets of rockers together so that cant happen. When i dye parts i'll dye everything i can think of at once that needs to be dyed.
