    Joining the 8s XO-1 club

this is going to be long journey before I get this car to run. My set-up will be plain and simple with no hidden tricks . I've started building mine last night after hearing that there will be other body design coming up soon in the market. I am not going for the speed record here, just to have fun bashing at any empty parking lot or streets in my neighborhood. Can't decide yet if I want to go with traxxas stock spline driveshaft or tekno cvd along with their 17mm adapters, well see.....

here are some pics as of now

looks like I can go as big as 5692 BL motor

more pics coming as it progress

Yes, you can run a 5692 if you move the battery cups forward, but that really limits battery selection. The 5682 fits with the battery cups all the way towards the rear.

that's so true but, my 4s 5000mah lipo fits perfectly with no movements what so ever. if I do get a different lipo thats a bit longer, I can always drill a new hole in the chassis for the batt cups to go few mm back.

Looks good man. I was wondering if anybody had experimented with the Tekno stuff. I'm going through axles like crazy now.

Depending on how you mount the motor, you may not have the clearance to move the cups even 1 or 2 mm. My 5682 has about 1mm or so clearance from the battery cups with them in the rear most position.

I'd like to know as well. FYI, Tekno gives a military discount for active service and inactive/prior service veterans. Not sure if you're a vet, but wanted to throw that out there.

I'll take your word and get the 5682, that way I can save up that space for later use with larger batts.

The 5682 has plenty of power so I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Good deal. Just create an account on their site and email them your dd214. Is a rather nice discount.

little update: I have a very good experience with Tekno CVD's, so I went ahead and order a set of M6 along with their 17mm adapters.

received my tekno 17mm adapter today. here are some difference with XO-1 17mm.

there is about 2mm set back with tekno adapter

side by side stub axles (xo-1 left/ tekno right)

with tekno the inner bearing flushed in on all corner which make the tekno rear carrier different than XO-1.

Dude I always love your builds. I have yet to bust my Traxxas CVD's of course I havent put a whole lot of power to them though.

I know you are a huge fan of Tekno. I have a set on my MMM 2650kv Sl4sh, which have done an excellent job holding up to power. I'm curious and interested at the same time at how well these will work out for you.

BTW what happened to your profile pic?

yep, i'm going to see how well this tekno going to hold up on 8s. I choose tekno because of its simplicity and lightness.

I got my tekno M6 CVD kit today,

the other 2 set of carriers have 2 holes while the other 2 have only 1 and they have 1.5 and .5 degree toe.

I found out that the 2 dogbones are pro trac length so I have to return this ones (long)

Pro trac length will bind with the diff shaft when its compress down,

Also joining the 8S club here. Leopard mounted and esc mounted to chassis. Used thermal paste on the underside of the esc and turn the aluminum chassis into a giant heat sink

I always think that the XL2 have enough room to fit there, nice
with that being screwed to the chassis you probably don't need a ESC fan

Yea it's a good fit if you take out the plastic case, it's actually perfect with the battery mount in the original position too. New 5682 will be here tmrw for my third chassis. Will mount this one with the battery tray in its original position.

lol yea hopefully the arctic silver will transfer most of the heat to the chassis. Chassis is constantly being cooled while driving anyways. We'll see though

You should still be able to fit some kind of fan on the esc.
