Spartan one piece at a time

I know it's been done by many, but I thought I would chronical my build. Thanks to all the members who have inspired me to start this build. Note: this is a build that I'm am starting with nothing but a parts list.

I had to add a 1/4 inch mounting plate to get the seaking 180amp to clear the top rail on the tray. I bolted the plate to the tray and added hook and loop fasteners to attach the esc to the mounting plate.

Thanks hog, my next dilemma is which way to place the esc and where to mount the extra cap bank.

I have mine mounted like yours shows in photo, I chose this alignment because i felt it kept the water flow a bit more linear. I was concerned at first about the caps contacting the battery, but it has never been an issue even if they do touch a bit.

Turned 90 degrees and then you have water lines hanging over the battery trays, not hard to manage by any means, but a consideration in the decision process.

I have those same adjustable trim tabs from Changemaker for use on my scratch build Spartan. I do like the fact that they are longer than the stock trim tabs. They may help a little more with controlling chine walk, only testing will tell.

Ok, so I was just taking a look at the second hull that I received last week and noticed a difference in rear deck hight... Did they send me a gen 1 hull???

    http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1371334921

I was on vacation last week and didn't get time to ship the first damaged hull back. The first one they sent was a direct match to my gen 2 hull. My question is, should I send the second one back and just plastic weld the nose of the first one.. Or send both back and wait another week and a half for yet another replacement and hope it is right or jus keep both and only pay for one? Decisions decisions. I will note that I was refunded on the first hull and sent a return label and have everything documented. So now I am in possession of two hulls and have only payed for one. Btw this is a major hobbie shop online.

Ok, I guess the angel wins and I ship the first hull tomorrow.

    And the journey continues...

Thanks orca, my wife agrees. I guess I'm stuck with the gen 1 hull, as I've already drilled the second water outlet before noticing. I'm going to order another from a different site just in case. I'm having it wrapped by monojeff.

Awesome looking spartan Yips! I'm still trying to get mine all set up. I'm shooting for the maiden voyage next weekend.

Where are your trim tabs from?
