400 Watt Motors, 80,000 mAH LiFePO4 Batteries, Oh Yeah...

    On my new electric skateboards!

Now, how do I fit this kind of power into the Summit so it can carry me around???

    Oh those crazy Californians.

Once I was driving my jeep on the beach and saw this tall hill. I just had to climb it. why? Because it was there. Half way up my second run at it a police car came out of nowhere. Stopped me and asked me " are you from California?"

Dude... what you need... whiter teeth man.

Look at those pearly fangs... I can barely look at them

Hehe. get a picture of the motor and batteries. I want to see what they look like.

Hey, when you're 42 and you're going through your 3rd midlife crisis, getting your teeth whitened is the least of your problems...

Ok, let me get some more detailed shots of these bad boys up. I figured a bunch of electric motor and battery power nuts like we have here would appreciate these things...

I want to see a video. Looks cool.

It would be even cooler if you could drive it with your RC radio. No wires.

Ok, here's a look at the bottom. I think that battery pack and motor might be a bit too big for the Summit. Thoughts?

The speed controller and charging system are under the aluminum fin compartment...

A wired controller to prevent interference...

And my wife riding hers... Just for fun...

Now I just need to get good enough where I can ride the board AND drive the Summit ahead of me at the same time without crashing... HA!!!

All in they were about $1,000 each, but I spent that on my 2 Summits as well, $600 for the truck and another $400 for 4 batteries each and chargers...

Ok, here's a video of my little nephew on it. It has a kid mode like the Summit.
The wired controller is good, I've ridden a few other boards that are jerky because of the wireless transmitter. You can go 15 mph on these things and if there is interference it can chuck you off hard...

No, I had it in kid mode for him (1/2 power) and I was filming so I was going slow. I need to do a GPS top speed test. I weigh 190 pounds and the board should take me around 15mph on flat ground, but we'll see...

That's the only downside, it is only one-wheel-drive...

Believe it or not there are skateboards out there that are 4 wheel drive and can out-accelerate a Corvette from 0-30, but they are around $4k... Crazy!!!

He's my nephew, but my daughter loves them too. She also has her own Summit, and we take both Summits hiking together. She's got a good life...

If that was mine I'd put LEDs front and back, wire it to a TQi transmitter, and throw on some big Traxxas stickers

If someone manages to make those batteries a little smaller and lighter, one of them will suffice for three or four excursions with my Emaxx.
amazing! charge the batteries once a month!

What's interesting is those types of batteries don't need as much attention as LiPo's. You can leave them fully charged, for one thing. All the balancing takes place inside the skateboard, it just gets fed by a 29.4 volt source (8 batteries in series). I charge them at 2amps, but I guess they can handle all the way up to 8amps, but it will shorten their life. I do like how I don't have to make sure they are at a storage voltage if I don't use them for a month. Can this chemistry of batt available for the Summit?
