    Lipo in series

Let's say I have a mamba monster and want to run 6s with two batteries in series.
Do I have to have two 3s lipos with same rating or can I run one 4s and one 2s in series?

Actually no. They only need to be the same mAh and C rating.

A 5S battery is just 5 cells in series with the same capacity and C rating. A 3S and 2S battery, ran in series, would effectively be wired the same way as a 5S. As long as the capacities are the same, it'd be fine. The system would not pull current faster from the 2S battery.

Only in parallel do they need to be the same on cell count as well.

I agree with Jws1982, I would recommend having the mah and C rating the same but number of cells does not matter.

It's also wise to have the same age/cycle batteries. It's not going to be good using an old 2s with a new 4S, or an old 3s with new 3s.

    Same brand is good too.
