    I rubberized my old body

So my 3906 body was all beat up and cracking. So I taped the big cracks and started spraying the inside of my body with this:

I know it's old, but hey it worked! Turned out great.

That was after the first coat, this is after 3:

You can see the little bit of overspray there was.

Tomorrow I am going to trim up the overspray and update this with pics of it on my truck.

I wondered if it would quieten it down. My resonates. Especially if it slides along the top after a flip.

Can't tell you where, it was over 3 years ago. However, others have used flex seal and other spray rubbers.

That would be a heavy paint job! But seriously, this stuff is quite heavy.

Hey Chopstx, how thick of a rubber layer would you say you ended up with on the inside? Thanks.

Less than two millimeters, like 1.5mm.

That's pretty good. I tried a similar thing with one of my bodies using Plasti-dip (rubberising spray), but using a whole can only gave me less than 1mm which is still IMO a little to thin.

Did you do this for strength, looks, soundproofing? I'd be tempted to spray the outside too.

I sprayed mine for strength. My previous body I had professionally done with Spray on Bedliner and it helps a lot to prolong body life, particularly if you do heavy bashing, but costs a bit so am currently trying out different DIY options.

You can get bedliner in a rattle can and do it at home.

Do you have like a brand or something. I am in Oz so some of the stuff you guys get over there is not quite so easy to obtain this side.

Dupli-Color and Rustoleum. There is another brand but I can't seem to find the site for it, I was going to use it to bed liner my baja bug. I'll keep looking.

A lot of Jeepers do this to their 1:1 jeeps. I haven't done it to mine yet, but it would make a good summer project.

Guys use Line-X, herculiner, or monstaliner. But I don't know if it comes in a small container...

The herculiner does come in a small 1-quart container from autozone, o'reilly and napa. I think a quart her in ridgecrest, ca is about 15 bucks though.
