    Summit?

I had a summit a few years back have they changed anything since then besides lipos and radio? I might get a 4x4 pede or rally or summit just trying to see what I want...I luv the massiveness of the summit...just can't decide if i want to spend the xtra $200 for a summit.

You could try and find a used from the Market Place. If your patient you can get really good deals from the MP, just a thought.

To really enjoy the summit you need challenging terrain, really challenging
The nastier the trail the happier the summit is.lol

And the happier you are with it. If you do not have fun and challenging terrain to mess around with, the summit can get boring VERY fast.

the summit has been out since 2008 - It has had new body colors added, the (now) industry standard 2.4ghz radio system, the the (now) industry standard lipo capability. But nothing that would make one DEFINATELY choose a 2013 summit over a 2008 summit.

I think its time for a massive upgrade or revamp.

Dramatically different lid, waterproof brushless system, Gnarly new tires, low profile roll cage, rock crawler body,

Just something to make us want to buy a new model.

Even the auto industry totally redesigns its car model every 5 years.

I wouldn't even mind options from within Traxxas' own stables (from a Maxi Single posting)

Is $645 shipped a good price for a new summit?

I assume the $645 is the NIMH model. if so that's what I would have paid if shipping was included. I bought mine at the lhs. I would buy the Summit with the NIMH batteries, use those as backups and get some 8200mah lipos from SPC. Trust me you will be happy you spent the extra money and got the Summit. My $500.00 Tmaxx just sits. Wish I had the $500 back.

Thats a great price. My lhs has the lipo version for $750 or so. Go for it. I would still save some money and get the SPC 8200 Lipos.

Easy decision, if you have the terrain it's a no brainer. By the way I checked at lhs today the Summit - nimh is $595.00 and the Summit - Lipo was $680.00. The price for the lipo model has dropped since the first of the year. Let us know what you decide.

I have seen the NiMh model online for under $600. I bought mine 6 months ago and have probably used it 10 times. I just simply do not enjoy it anymore. I do however have my eye on that new Mamba monster 2. If I can keep the gearing the same and be able to crawl AND do some higher speed bashing it will be the perfect vehicle running on 4s. Otherwise I prefer bashing at higher speeds over crawling any day. But that's just me.
