Help with TTQ 2.4GHz and Receiver

    Hey Folks...

Was out tonight and the daughters Pede was acting up.

    Very short range <100 feet.

I changed the batteries in the remote but no luck.

    Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help you may offer.

Check for a damaged antenna wire.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Yep, you guessed it. Somehow got crimped up underneath the battery.

Can I just tape it up and continue on or do I need to replace the antenna wire?

Taping it up probably won't cure the issue... but it is worth a try because you won't be out much.

If you decide to replace the wire... it is a micro coaxial that is soldered directly to the circuit board and 3.25cm (I believe) of its core needs to be exposed at the tip. To solder this coaxial takes some pretty good soldering skills.

One more way to possibly fix it yourself is to expose the length mentioned above of the core after the break... when going from the tip down to the receiver. It may work... it may not.

One way to fix it for sure is to use Traxxas' lifetime warranty program:

or to buy a new one (or set) off from eBay.

Another thing to keep in mind:

Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Thanks Jimmie. The antenna itself is not actually broken just the black protective coating has been rubbed off. I will try to tape it up and if not, I will follow your other advice.

before you tape it I would try heat shrink. it wont unravel like tape and would be permanent. you can get it at radio shack or any electronics store.

Just to let everybody know. I finally got around to heat shrinking the antenna and tried it out. No luck.
Just going to buy a new 2218X.
