    Charger for my traxxas lipos

I have a few traxxas 2s 5800 mah packs and an onyx 245 dual charger. For some reason the onyx does not fully balance the packs. I get one at 4.20 and the other cell at 4.18. That is an example but you get the point.

I want to upgrade chargers and am looking at an iCharger but not sure what all I need to charge two packs at the same time. Also does it balance both packs?

I know I need a power supply but that's about all I know.

iCharger makes a great charger, that is for sure. I have hundreds (possibly even 1,000+) charges on my 206B... most of those were with a ParaBoard, charging up to 6 packs at once... all in perfect balance.

From the mAh count of your post I am going to suggest the 206B or larger... charging two 2S 5800mAh packs in parallel at 1C would be 11.6 amps and the 206 is capable of up to 20 amps.

Yes, you will need a power supply.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

So what if I want to charge 4 packs? I'd need the one that does 30 amp?

You don't NEED to charge all 4 packs at 1C. Charging them at the maximum 20 Amps yields full charge in a out 75 minutes. That's a lot faster to charge 4 than 1 hour each.

A word of caution: if you are going to parallel charge, PLEASE make sure you know what you're doing and know the conditions necessary and the risks involved.

If you want to charge at 1C, yes. Charging at less than 1C does not hurt anything. 23.2 amps would be 1C for 4 packs, 20 amps would be .86C.

    So what am I missing?
    1. I am getting an icharger 206b or 306b with power supply from progressive rc I think
    2. I am ordering the parallel balance board for traxxas
    3. I know to charge same cell packs. All I have are 2s packs and I will probably only charge two identical packs in parrellel instead of 4 or 6 as the mah are different.

The one question I do have is does the para board work for storage mode or to just charge one pack?

I've been reading up on this and think its time to jump to the next level charger.

    Paraboard works in any mode.

The packs do not need to be the same mAh to parallel charge them. The only requirements are that they are the same cell count and very close to the same voltage.

Here is some reading for parallel charging:

My new charging kit will be here tomorrow. I ordered the surface 500 watt combo from progressive rc along with a paraboard.

    Can't wait.

To go back to the orig post, I don't think a 0.01v matters very much or at all. Sometime my charger beeps when one is 4.20 and the other is 4.19. Sometimes 4.19 and 4.18. Definitly not worth 100$ for a new charge imor
