    What's a good high speed tire/wheel combo??

Neighbor kid doesn't think I can beat his dirt bike in a street race. I ordered the gearing I wanted, but think I need a good street tire. I don't think my mashers will be a good high speed tire. Is there a good wheel/tire combo I can install with the stock 12mm hub? Anacondas??

How long is your race in length? That will tell us if you need more acceleration or more top speed.

If it's on road, I'd put some stock rustler tires on it which will put you lower to the ground and they won't balloon till 40mph or so.

I thought those rustler anacondas would be a good choice too.

That might be tough to do given the distance. No way could he beat you at 25yrds but 100 gives him time to wind it up.

I don't think his bike goes over 60. I think I can take him with only 25/86 gearing and 3s.

Maybe some Banditos? El Sob knows a lot about them and says they are good. Shoot him a message and ask more about them....

Tires are a bit smaller than the stampede though so I may need to rethink the gearing. Possibly use the rustler recommended 65 mph gearing?

Just roll with the mashers, good straight line traction and theyll balloon up for more top speed. If you wanted to get prepared for the show down, balance your tires, lower the front of truck as much as you can (slash front shocks are shorter), soften the rear suspension (slash rear springs are progressive) and drop the body, also, as much as you can in the front. Practice your speed runs, you may even prefer not having the battery fully charged. Good luck and BE SAFE. I'd like to think this race really goes about 50 yards or a little more and no way your bud is going 60 in the street on a dirt bike - and you walk him

Just some background. The neighbor kid is only 14 and he has a new Kawasaki 140. The kid can't get through his gears too fast and I've ridden the bike and its a dog.

The best speed wheels/tires on a 2WD Stampede are 1:8 buggy slicks/onroad combos. The balloon very little and are rock-solid stable while at the same time having extreme traction. The only issue - and it's a large one - is that 17mm adapters are required.

I like the street fighters too. I like the idea of going to the 17mm hexes. Also gives slight more width for stability. I could then give my son my mashers on desperados and change wheels/tires all together. The mashers in a 3.8 with the 17mm are just waaay too big though I think. Alot bigger than the 2.8! Wish the 2.8" would some with the 17mm.

you dont have to go with 3.8. find a set of 3.2 rims and trim some 2.8 tires to fit. i did the trencher and mt3 split rims and like them very much. check out rpm stablemaxx rims, i cant remember if those are 3.2 but they add width with off set

I found some of those 3.2 stablemaxx rims on eBay. You said trim the 2.8 mashers to fit. Trim what? What are you trimming?
