    Madbash motor in 2wd slash

Hey guys, I have a question. Having five kids I don't really have money to spend on a new motor so I was wondering if my madbash motor could go in my slash. The motor is a 540 brushless 2150kv with a hobbywing 80amp Esc. Would it work? Please help

If you are talking about the ESC & Motor out of the Exceed 1/8 scale truck, then yes it should work just fine. You will likely want to start with the truck geared down a lot, and I would recommend checking the temps on the motor and ESC every could of minuted for the first couple of runs.

Yes I am. It's the hobby wing combo. Will 2s 5000mah be good. I'm not looking for uncontrollable speed just faster then the brushed Titan.

    19/90 for gearing?

Since it's coming from an 1/8scale I would think you wouldn't really have to worry about temps but more your drivetrain

Honestly I'm not sure cause I don't know anything about the madbash combo, but I believe the lower kv motors are more on the torque side but still I'm sure that thing is going to get up and go like nothing and you shouldn't have to worry about temps but definitely your drivetrain, I was bored 1 day and put my Tekin pro4 4600kv(which is made more for heavier 4x4s) in my slash and my slash was tearing it up but of course it ripped up my drive shafts like paper haha but temps were barely warm after 2 full packs

Well you could just run it and see what happens w/ whatever you have but if driveshafts start breaking I hear the tekno driveshaft kit is the way to go and the price is around 30-40$ I think but I hear they're bulletproof

Why is there a 540 can motor in a 1/8 truck? That doesn't make sense to me.

    Includes:
    1 x MadBash EP
    1 x Radio Control System
    1 x 80A brushless ESC with fan (pre-installed)
    1 x 540L brushless motor with fan, 2150KV (pre-installed)
    2 x 3300mah/7.4V 20C Lipo battery pack
    1 x Instruction manual
    No LiPo-Charger is included.
That's the exact specs from nitrorcx.com page

Ok he's my other issue. I just got both motors out. The pinions teeth on the brushless or huge and will destroy the spur. But the shaft on the brushless is 5mm I think. It's bigger then the Titan. So what options do I have.

I'm assuming you mean the motor out of the madbash is 5mm shaft and mod1 pinion?

either you can put a mod1 spur in the slash which I believe the xo-1 spur fits, or you can go to your LHS or online and get a robinson racing 5mm 48pitch pinion and if you do that option you can keep your spur

    Something like this http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...FWNxQgodgEEA7Q

Cool man I'm excited to have more speed. It was a huge change going from my madbash to my brushed slash. I also got toount the Esc. But I think I figured that out. If you had to guess a speed what would u say? The madbash did 38mph measured with my gps. I'm hoping my slash will at least do the same. It was doing 25mph stock.

I'm not sure I run mine 2s on 23/86 I'd say around 35-40 but now that I think of it your combo will probably be faster then 40

Here's a chart, its pretty accurate up to about 50mph. That's about as fast as I go,I wiped a truck out once, the gps said 72mph,but I wouldn't bet my life on that being right.

Yea I don't know how fast my slash has gone I only did 1 run w/ 3s 20c and 23/86 it was pretty fast but 2s 23/86 on a velineon is fine for me off road

That would be cool. I don't want uncontrollable but a nice speed. Good thing is I could always gear it down. I'd be happy between 35-40.

Thanks billy. I will check it out

[According to Billy's website it says it will only do 13.7mph

    What gears are you running?
With that motor you have a lot of gearing options.
Achieving 40mph will be easy, try recalculating it,that scale has been quite accurate for me.

With 32 pitch gears you should run around 40mph at 27-56.
Your motor will pull hard at low rpm's 2150kv compared to a 3500kv.
Those same gears in a 3500kv would be way to tall.
But that lower kv motor was meant to move a lot heavier rc.
That's with a 2s,and of course that approximate.

I have the motor in running a venom 3s 5000mah with the gearing at 23/58. I clocked 48mph on the GPS. Man she's hard to handle. Definitely going to save up for the better steering set up.

56/27 will not fit. My 60/18 is as far as the motor will move back. 56/20-21 will be as big as you get with that spur.

That motor is a 540L, not 540. It is made for higher voltages like 3 and 4s It will be a dog on 2s...

The temps are not an issue at all. I ran it as close to full throttle as i could keep it for two packs. The motor only got slightly warm. I mean barely noticeable. As far as the gears fitting they fit right on. Now adjustments no extensions. Just screwed them in.

Maybe my HR motor plate has less room to slide the motor back. With 18/60, I have 1mm more to move the motor back. A 19t will not fit. It was 27/56 right???
