    xl5 esc

I found a 13 turn motor for a great price and was wondering if the the xl5 could and will handle it.

Traxxas says it wont handle below a 15t 540. If you do try it, you will have to use the smallest pinion you can possibly find. Anything taller than an 90/12 will be overgeared

Technically the XL-5 can only handle a 15t 540 size motor, but as rag6 said, if you use the 13t you'll want to use a really small pinion. Years ago I would run brushed motors below my ESC turn limits (usually a Novak or Tekin esc) and never had any problems, so do it at your own risk...Traxxas doesn't recommend it and it's probably not worth the risk of frying your esc.
