Question tqi link with a case?

so i am debating on upgrading to the docking base, but have some concerns about the clamp's compatibility with my 4s and it's case. Unsure if i'm permitted to mention the brand of case. Will my "water mammal box" defender work with the clamp?

Looks tight, is there a cover over the dock port on that case? If there is and it folds down, then it most likely wont work.
I put a slim case on my 4S and it works with my tqi dock, the dock area on the case is open.
Traxxas currently has my radio so I can't test the clamp to see how thick a case can be before it doesn't clamp down.

I did buy a used iPod touch 2nd gen to use exclusively on the dock though, think I paid $50 for it.

And if you take of the foam pads on the arms it will fit better but you won't be able to put any other Idevice on other than the one in the case
