Exclamation Does anybody know why my summit burns up so many batteries?

My Traxxas Summit keeps killing the batteries I put in it. Does anybody know what it is doing?
What is broken? I have ran 4200mah batteries and 5000mah batteries. Both sets burned up in 2 months.

During a typical run, when do you stop the RC vehicle; at 1/2 discharge, when you first see a noticeable drop in power, not until the vehicle is barely moving or stops?

How do you store the packs; fully charged, empty, or as they came out of the vehicle from the last run of the day?

ok im a noob to rc maybe a year... but to answer your first question..
do you have when you notice a drop in power and it will be noticable. it is now time to unplug ur truck u dont need to freak out and be like AAAAHHHHHH. no need for that when u get home put all your rc stuff down and sit at the kitchen table with ALL of your BOOKS for your truck and DIRECTIONS. and start reading.
also dont store your packs for more then 2 days fully charged
    dont store your packs dead.
u want to store them at half percent im prty sure.

i think this is why u hear horror stories about lipos burning stuff down. and that the summit sucks for some people.
knowledge is power. and may the summit be with you.
NO U CANT DRIVE MY SUMMIT!

Just a thought? R u running lipo batteries? Because the older evx2 does not have a lipo cutoff and if run below 3v per cell it can cause irreversible damage and will burn them out. A couple of cheap low voltage alarms can keep in check if this is the case.

I run my truck to where the batteries are 7/8 discharged. All stock. NiMh batteries. Charger that charges batteries to they are
fully charged. I store them fully charged.

Sounds like you are over discharging them.

How many times would you say you charge/discharge them before they are done?

What brand of batteries are they?

WHAT charger are you using... this DOES matter. the fact that it fills the packs only proves it IS a charger. But a good charger and a cheap charger are 2 different things entirely.

the first ones were dynamite 4600 and the second ones were onyx 5000. I have a dynamite duel peak charger. I got a new charger the other day. I spent $110 dollars for the first one. I probably can charge/discharge them 5-10 times.

Far and away the number one cause of premature Nimh battery pack failure is over-discharging.
