Summit Lt is a scaled version of the summit that was done in a rc magazine. Trying to make it look more like a 1-1 with smaller tires and such. Don't really see the point on taking the summit backwards. But to each their own

Ah... I read a really old thread a few years ago about a scaled Summit. They used Slayer? arms, axles, rods, and much smaller wheels.

The right word is "copied", not done... The magazine was from March, 2011; myself and others did that on 2009... Check the link posted before..

If I had done mine yesterday not knowing you did it in 09, then I didn't copy you, right?

Copy, yes.... knowing he did it or not does not change that.
Unknowingly or knowingly... that is the difference.

If you buy everything new it will running you about 200ish. You case use any tire that's has similar dimensions as the swampers should work. But the swampers are a good tired IMO. I have a copy of the article if you want. I wouldn't use a smaller diameter tire cause you'll miss the ground clearance. I just converted my summit and the no 1 thing your have to watch out for is the length of the links from the shocks to the arms. They suggest using it creates a lot of preload on the shocks, good for bashing sucks for crawling. I made mine 44mmjust to allow for full articulation. Its a completely different truck after you convert it

IMO for anyone remotely thinking about turning their Summit into a scaler via the LT conversion so they can join the scaler community I would not advise it and instead buy a dedicated crawler ie Axial etc...

Having ran with scalers and done plenty of research... scalers are a serious bunch, almost like a cult following and anything out of scale is treated like a red headed step child. They speak axial and rc4wd, not Traxxas so you'll be the fifth wheel of the group.

I feel this conversion is just to change up a basher. There's not much to improve so switch things up!

Smaller tires = less speed and less heat.

I have 2.2 r35 ripsaws on mine. still over a 5 inch tire so it looks pretty clean. have to use sc rims to clear the carriers so a little trimming was required but very easy.

Stating that I copied is not correct. It's not a big deal and I hope this doesn't come across as negative, but people should know that I didn't copy you. I built mine in 2010 using input from Traxxas and do not believe I have ever seen your project. Again, not a big deal, but to me it's worth noting that your claim that I copied you isn't accurate. If you built a narrowed Summit previously, it's news to me. I'm sure others built narrowed Summits as well and I don't think you copied them.
