ok, so even though i thought i had connection i must have been wrong. car didnt do a thing today under load. felt like even a free spin was at a lack of power. so............. after a little visit on tower hobbies website i discovered the joy of the payment option............ lets just say a new motor/esc combo is on the way..........

also switched out my rear axles finally. dropped in some mip's.

and after much discussion we decided that with the power of the trucks and how loose the track pretty much always is, that its time to bring out some spoilers. so we now have a 2 3/4" spoiler allowered. and let me say.............. hello forward bite! you can finally go strait down the strait aways lol.

also still not happy with my front shock oil, so im going to drop from 45w down to 35w. will probly end up picking up some 25w to try out in the rear as well in place of my 30w oil.

i wish lol, the guy who runs the track recomended it so i though i would give her a wirl. my only concern now is that after ordering i seen it says for lightweight sc trucks and mines pretty heavy compared to most. last time i weighed her in she was 6lb 4oz.......

but its a duratrax element 3900kv system, 4 pole. its stamped right on it that its by castle. so hope it works out well. i think worst case scenario the motor will work out great, im just worried about the esc mainly lol. but for 2 $43 payments and one $53 payment i cant complain lol

Try trimming the chassis. As long as you don't trim too much, the structural integrity should remain. You'll be surprised on how much weight you can loose with trimming a lot off the chassis.

Riley, ill let you trim your $15 chassis lol.

i actually weighed my car with the scale i bought. the other scale maxxed out at 5lb, mine goes up to 11lbs. and with the car on mine it actually weighs in at 5lb 13.9oz. so its not as bad as i thought lol. and it might loose a little more total weight. and my front tires are a bit heavy with the trenchers up front. other front steer tires i weighed were 1oz lighter than mine. but i could cut more of the body posts that are hanging out the bottom and other little things. i could get alluminum turnbuckles and ect.

    edit:

so comparing numbers i only added about 7oz of weight to my slash over factory. but im going to be changing some things up. the new motor/esc combo is 2.75 oz lighter than the velineon system. so that will be taking it back down. then another 2oz if i find the proper front tires. and then some other little stuff im going to mod adn find the results of lol.

so here i am to report about the motor and esc. i was pretty happy with it overall. the biggest thing i didnt like which i think was just part of the setup............. was that when i was driving forward and i would go to apply the brakes it basically skipped the neutral section and went strait into reverse. so on the track if i even tapped the brakes i was going around. solved that by just putting the esc in race mode and locking out the reverse function.

and i went with the same gearing i had before which was 86/23. only i found that with the the 3900kv vs the 3500kv it was a tad slower. so for next week im switching over to 83/23 gearing to see where that puts me at. overall though i give the setup an A-. also going to switch my drag brake from 10% up to 20%. the 10% just seemed to be a little to slow and weak of an apply going into the corners. i think the 20% will be much better though. so wish me better luck for this weekend.

It shouldn't skip the brakes. Do you have access to a castle link? You can get a normally operating reverse if you want it...

Oh yea, need pics of the spoiler!

I'd love to see some video of running on that track.

I can almost visualize going in and coming out of those turns.....

That is a really sweet track setup. in 5 min, you can switch to a full off road track. Love the modular design.

It's flat.. Wish it was banked.. But when we run offroad it's part of that track so the banks won't work.. Next saturday will be running ill try and make a video we just started this summer so there aren't a bunch of cars but were growing slowly..

    ahh, ic ic.

so................ had some trouble at the track with the slash today............ i somehow managed to break my front titanium axle stub on the right front............ how? i dont know............... but im rather upset to say the least. lets just say i already messaged the seller on ebay about it. you know questioning his product lol. so depending on what they say will depend on if i order a set of stock axles or not. i still have the one stock axle that didnt break to replace it with.

but before that happend it wasnt doing to bad. needs to turn a little better but other than that pretty happy overall.

Just for whatever its worth to you guys, i race an actual dirt oval car and as far as setup goes, when the track is wet or tacky you have to loosen up your because of the high traction surface. When the track gets dry and slick you have to tighten up the car because because of the loose dirt and low traction. Idk if that will translate the same into the sc trucks or not but i dont see any reason why it wouldnt. And also, for a dry and slick track you want more side bite (right side tires digging, softer right side springs) so more body roll would do better on a dry track.
