    stainless steel Universal Drive Shaft 113mm-155mm (expandable)

    They look promising but I have yet to evaluate beyond looks (ie fitment , proper length, strength)

    I also notice that the upper end uses a "C"clip to attach the joint, so it may be possible to swap the joint portion for the appropriate traxxas joint. Again, I am unaware of the diameter.

    I had a set that looked very similar to those and they snapped almost immediately where the shaft connects to the joint end (its one piece but something about the way it was designed its just weak).
    I also dont think those are summit size... im pretty sure they are for smaller chassis like 1/10 scale crawlers.

    How about these by TruckMaster of Germany (quality parts) - they state they fit E Maxx, and T- Maxx . should be suitable (strength / size_) for the summit as well? - again I dont know the details - my german is very rusty
