    help!

    i have an tq am radio and the antenna on the receiver has gotten a nasty road rash what should i do to prevent this any more? i was thinking about warping electrical tape around the whole antenna tube. and could i replace just the antenna on the receiver of just get a new receiver?

    I always wound my antenna down over the outside of the straw and put shrink wrap over that (the kind you heat to shrink).

    Those receivers should be pretty cheap to buy if you can find them. I just gave away an AM transmitter that I came across in the closet.

    Good thing about those is the antenna can be any piece of wire of the proper length.
    Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

    Most hobby shops sell antenna wire. It needs to be 24 inches long and it needs to be small enough to fit in the antenna tube.
