Cool Slash 4x4 Scale Ford Raptor Build!

Hey guys, this is the start to my Slash 4x4 Scale Raptor Build. My goal is to make a scale looking Ford Raptor. Since my slash 4x4 already has a tons of upgrades, ill be working more on the appearance of the truck. Some custom mods will be done to the body, so stay tuned. I will also be updating the build often .

Here are some pics of how my slash 4x4 looks like currently.

The body I will be using is the Proline True Scale Raptor body. Since it requires extended body mounts, on the front I used Duratrax Nylon Body Post. On the rear I have the RPM body mounts and with by adding a few spacers, it seems to work fine.

Just did a rough cut for now.

Ill be also installing these LED Lights to promote the scale look!

Before I do any of this, Im first going to clean the whole truck, put fresh grease in the diffs, and repair some broken parts!

They are 1/8 Mohawk tires. Got them from ebay for $25 shipped from a seller named suprasales. They handle great on all terrains!

The wire mesh, I ordered from eBay. You can get a pretty good amount of it for under $5.

The shock guards are from RPM. You can get all four for around $10. Another good choice would be the Traxxas Stampede 4x4 shock guards since I believe they protect your sway bars too. Body pics are about to come, only have to spray one more color onto it!

Well I finished painting the body... Im not disappointed with how it came out and im not really happy. Overall I think it looks pretty nice. With the LED's and other mods, I'm hoping it will look much better. Tell me what you guys think? I need some feedback lol

I was wondering if you guys think it would look better without the front bumper lights, since one of the LED flashes, while the others stay on?

I really like the color scheme.

As for the lights, it probably would look better without them since one light isn't working properly; however, I'd vote for keeping them if all of them worked.

    Cool LED Lights!

This is a quick look on how the LED's will look. This isnt the final, just took some tape and tried the lights out. Im really loving the look of it!

I didnt cut any holes. I left the head lights and tail lights clear when I was painting the body.

    Cool Final Setup of LED's

Finally got the LED's properly set up. I used a hot glue gun and some duck tape to keep the wires in place. It is kind of messy, but doesnt matter since its on the inside of the truck. They look AMAZING! Stay tuned for some more mods.

It definetly will work on the lcg chassis. However,
You will be able to see part of the chassis from the bottom.

There is a Chevy one. It's called the Proline Chevy Silverado HD Body, but in my opinion it doesn't look as good compared to the raptor.

    Custom Mini Scale Roll Cage!

Its been awhile since i did some modifications to my body. Well here i have a Custom Mini Roll Cage that i installed on my body.

I cut these out of the Stock Slash 4x4 Rear Bumper (The part of the bumper that screws onto the top of the rear Differential) I also had to drill holes on one side of each piece with a dremel.

I used the part that is used on your shock rod ends as a spacer. Without the spacer the body was bending outwards.

Heres where I put the screws.

As you can see its very strong and durable. Also acts as a handle to pick up the car. I was able to pick up the whole truck without putting any stress on the body.

Nice work with all the extra "accessories" there. Good idea with the LED's and leaving the light openings unpainted.

Awesome work you have to be happy with that, I wish I had the time and patients to custom my truck with such detail. Nice colour scheme, I reckon you nailed it just right to match the solid black wheels.

Awsome job on the truck, I would be afraid to bash it. What did you use to make your video? I love the Ford and really like the look of the Raptor. Keep up the great work.

Haha thanks alot! I used my iPhone 5 to record the video and bought the iMovie app to edit everything. It gets uploaded in HD and is very easy to use, however there isn't alot of editing options. Just the basics.
