No Stampede has ever come with dual shocks on all four corners, are you sure you dont have an EMaxx?

Dad, apparently you can run shocks on the front and rear of the tower. http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread.php?8960807-Slash-4x4-Dual-shock-setup-front-and-rear

Rustler, why not just run one set of the current shocks?

I've seen mods like that on several Traxxas models but he did say "dual stock shocks" which I guess could mean the stocks he has are the stock Ultras but I took it to mean they came that way stock like they do on the EMaxx.

sorry for the confusion. it is a stampede 4x4 and i modified it to have 8 total stock shocks. i did this because in order to get the suspension stiff you need those spring spacers which reduce travel. i have upgraded one set of the shocks to teambluestar shocks, so now i still run 8 shocks 4 of which are stock and 4 of which are teambluestar. my question is the same, are 4 big bore shocks just as good?

You might just need really heavy shock oil to make up for losing 4 shocks...but that thing looks sweet u have any videos?

Spring spacers do not reduce travel. The shock still travels as far the spring is just under more preload. I don't think this is necessary at all. I would have just used a thicker oil or maybe switched out the plunger to the one or two hole one.

If you want stiffer suspension then you want stiffer springs. Heavier oil slows down the suspension but does not really stiffen it up. Many people think heavier oil stiffens the suspension but it really is just slowing it down.

The dual shocks look cool but I would go back to the stock configuration and use stiffer springs and tune the oil to match the spring rate.

The setup I have is VGR racing front progressive spring in the rear shocks and TRA6868 in the front on my big bore + 50,000w oil.
It is the most perfect setup I ever reached.
