    Snaped axle yoke today

Went to unser racings rc track today and ran for couple hours today. Everything was fine ther except for the rea body mounts destroying the body holes. On the way home stoped at an open field to chase some ground hogs around with the 3s lipo, and 10 min in snaped the upper drive shaft yolk, good thing i had already bought the fron and rear MIP drive shafts. I now have an excuse to install them.

You should only use red Loctite if you don't plan on removing the screw or nut. It's nearly permanent.

Easily removed with a bit of heat though, mine have served my great for the past 3 weeks! Where as a stock shaft would last me 2 minutes

All you need to remove it is some heat like a soldering iron or heat a hex driver and it will come out and use blue on other parts so its easy to undo......peace

I did use red locktite on all set screws, but the otherday i noticed one of the set screws backed out of the upper output yoke.It stareted spinnig around the shaft coming out the side of the tranny case. I could not get the the stub shaft to come off the tranny shaft, but did get it lined back up with the holes on the shaft and relocktite and retightened. Seems to be ok, what would you guys recomened i do for that if it becomes an issue.

I had used HPI pins rather than using dual grub screws to secure my MIP shafts, but later decided to use beefier Traxxas pins (5145). The Traxxas pins were a little long, so you need to take some off of the end. Left is HPI, Middle is modified Traxxas, Right is unmodified Traxxas.

that sounds like a great idea, thanks for the info doubletap. I will have to try that out. Sounds like it would work better than the grub screws.

Well that's good to know about the MIPS. I've got a rear xtra duty set here that came off my slash, may put them back on or sell them.

Double, does that stock traxxas pin work directly with the MIP shafts,or did you have to drill and tap to that size?

When using the pins, it looks like only the thicker threaded side would make contact with the driveshaft. The torque would then be applied only to one side of the driveshaft. Perhaps that's why MIP went with the dual-set-screw setup.

Is this assumption correct? Or, does it still work just fine without issue?
