Will an IPod gen 2 and telemetry work?

I see on the Traxxas site that it has to be a 3rd/4th gen iPod to work. I've also seen where people are still still using the older iPods but with older updates on the link application. If I was to get a gen 2 iPod and download the app for the first would it work or no?

Ok I'll check that out. So if I got a gen 2 and downloaded the newest app from Traxxas it will have no problem working. That's what I'm ready correct lol

Awesome. Thanks for the info y'all. A woman I work with has a gen 2 that she said I could have for $20. In excellent shape. So I figure why not give it a try.

So now that I am getting an Ipod for this. After I get the docking base. What else is needed to get this working and reading the specs of the rig?

I am wanting temp and mph mostly if that matters.

    3792-gear cover
    6520-rpm sensor
    6538-magnet holder
    6537-rpm/speed sensor
    6535-temp sensor mount
    6521-temp sensor

Basically just copied this page http://traxxas.com/products/models/e...rvxl-telemetry

Well I just picked up my 2 gen iPod touch. Hopefully I'll get a docking base here in the next few weeks.

Thanks buddy! Hopefully I'll find a good deal on one. Seen some new on eBay for about $35 shipped. Not too bad.

That's about what I have seen them going for. Just have to wait a bit until I get it. Hopefully moving here in the next week or two

Sooooo, how do I get an older app for the Link App? Just as I figured the 2nd Gen Ipod will only support apps running 4.2.1 and ALL the apps in the app store require 4.3 or higher. So how do I get an older version of the app that y'all say you're running?

You need to download the app to your i tunes, then you can plug the iPod in and it will ask you if you want to download a older version of the app, click yes and your set

What ticks me off about the gen 2 is that Traxxas said it would work on the package when i bought it. The older version kinda sucks the speedometer only goes to 50. Just my take and also i think it blew my transmitter up...not sure its being sent into Traxxas.

Also if you get the update only need to do it once it will keep saying do you want to download an older version. If you click update.

It doesn't even give me an option to download an older version. The iPod is up to date it says at 4.1.2. Seems as though I am stuck and wasted $20.

Hmm I wonder how come its not giving me that option. From what I am reading on apples site the 2nd gen will only update to 4.1.2.
