Help my merv won't stop making clicking noises!!

Hey guys! I'm new to the mini revo.. I traded my rustler xl-5 for it anyways, I have a weird clicking noise from the drive shaft in the center when I roll my car on the ground and when I run it it make a loud sound as if the driveshaft is hitting something or teeth is missing in the gear? Ive checked the spur, pinion, and the drivetrain but no luck BUT the weird part is that when I take my skid plates off and my t-bone skidplate/bumper the noise goes away? U think my drive shaft is bent? Or is it the gears in the black box that connects the front/rear drive train that's making the noise????

When you take the skids off its Probally giving it a bit more space between the ring n pinion
When the skids are on it makes the bulkhead halves join together a bit more to give you that clicking.

    Black box = bulkhead

The skids help hold the bulkheads together and keep the gear mesh
What do you do with it off. Spin it in the air?
Probably a stripped diff but do you see any damage around the center driveshafts area?

So I guess it's the diff.. There wasnt any damage, just that noise comming for inside or around the bulkhead. When the skids were off I rolled it the same way on a flat surface no sound, but when i put back on it came back lol!
So I guess to be safe I should shim the both front and back diffs and since I'm there do the cvd's..and drive shaft? I'm planning on goin from 2s to 3s eventually so might as well..
Urrghhh so much work!(just watch YouTube vid on diffs/cvd)

Pickup a few sets of associated 21141 shims. Not to bad once you did it a few times. Plus you get to know your car better!

Had almost the same problem with my MERV when i recieved it.
Found out that it was the spur gear hitting the gear cover (7077R).
After flexing it a bit by hand, the clicking noise was gone.

Well, there were no space for even one 0,1 mm. shim on my MERV when i got it, so "must shim" isn't exactly true.

Get these (Team associated 21141 shims). I went through the exact same problem on mine when I got it a few months back. I shimed both diffs and been fine since. I roasted mine running 4s (2s paralelle) also cost me a servo. But that was my noob (at the time) mistake.

I would take the motor out first, then give it a roll back and forth. Doing this will eliminate any noise from the motor, and you'll hear the diff gears much better.
Also, have you checked to see if the skidplate screws are too long? going into the case and rubbing the diff?

FYI 2x2s parallel is still just 2s...

    2x2s series is 4s.

And so this is what I did to solve the clicking noise in my merv.
    -team associated 21141 shims
    -traxxas steel CVDs
    -traxxas center steel driveshaft
    -hs-81 hitec servo
    -diff grease

    BEFORE

    Cvds installed

    Hitek servo next to stock

    Center drive shaft

    Pull apart and shim diffs

Throw my tbone back on.. Luv it!

    AFTER

    Sideview

Hope this helps!! Shoutout to the ppl who helped and replied!
