    EZ-Peak Plus Charge Limit

I have read a good bit about what to charge batteries at and if a charger can handle it. From what I under stand 1C is the normal charge rate. For a Traxxas 10,000mAh that would be 10A. The EZ-Peak Plus charger is only rated for 6A. So for this battery would you just charge at 6A and it would take awhile? For battery packs with a lower mAh rating what are the disadvantages to charging at more than 1C?

Ya, it would take longer. I have the EZ Peak Plus, and I use it to charge my SPC 2s 8200 mah lipos. It takes a hour and a half to finish charging.

The only thing I can think of it that it would take longer. Other than that, it shouldn't matter.

More than 1C. I know it would take less time to charge. Like charging a 5,000mAh pack at 10A?

Oh. You could risk over charging it, or risk puffing it if you charge it too quick. Other than that, it should just charge faster.

Have you used the Dual Charge board to charge two at one time?

Charging at higher rates than the battery capable of will not overcharge it. It could puff and become unusable though. I advise against charging at higher rates than any battery states is safe.

I have not used Traxxas dual board, but I have a ParaBoard that allows me to charge up to 6 batteries at the same time. Charging in parallel requires all packs connected to be of the same cell count and similar charge level. In order to check this before you attach the pack to the device, I suggest purchasing a cell checker. They can be bought on eBay for less than $5 shipped. Using any parallel charge device creates a battery system... to figure out a 1C charge rate you would add up all the mAh and divide by 1,000.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

So 1C charge rate for say 4 5000mAh 3s batteries would be 20A. To figure the wattage required do you still multiply 20A by 12.6 volts or by 50.4 volts?

    1C for 5 5000mAh batteries is 20 amps, yes.
In a parallel system voltage does not change, just capacity; so 12.6v.

Correct me if I'm wrong but for 5 wouldn't it be 25A?

You are correct... the 5 is supposed to be a 4.
    Sorry about the typo!
